I will be purchasing the game soon, I a couple of questions that I cannot find the answer to
1. saving- in the middle of a flight, lets say, can I save a game and turn of my computer or must I be docked. you know wife calls, gotta go
2. after I stop playing a session, can my son log on and play with his own ship or does he have to use mine? do I need to purchase two accounts so he can play on my computer?

Also I plan on playing solo for a long while, I understand it has a very high learning curve and don't want to be blasted by other players

answers:-
1 Yup you can logout anywhere, when you log back in, you will be where you were.
2 Best to have two accounts or you will both be playing the same Cmdr.
If you played old Elite, it is like that, but much better

Remember even though you "can" exit the game at anytime it is NOT considdered legal to just exit the game, just to save your butt when in a dogfight. The team(Fdev) is keeping an eye out for such behavior and you can get a punishment for doing that, maybe not the first time it happens but if you make a habit of it they will proberly fined you in some way... (Haven't tried it myself though... Just read it somewhere on this forum )

I'm pretty sure there is a countdown timer when you try to save in a dangerous area. But you can still do it.
