The update called Eve Evolved will upgrade the graphics a lot. Such as textures, asteroids, nebula details, DirectX 12 and more.

I've been considering trying Eve recently while on my search for other space games to play.
What's it like as a newbie Eve player in today's environment considering there's veterans and good but not-so-nice players flying around waiting to meet noobs ?

I'd be interested to know as well, I used to play Eve years ago and it was the most toxic community I have ever witnessed in life.

It's funny but I had the opposite experience having played eve since it released for nearly 9 years doing just about every role in the game. I found the community really helpful, there is "toxicity" especially if you go looking for it. Example the forums or the main chat channels in game. My advice for anyone starting out is to find a corps to join as soon as possible, most are (or certainly were) very helpful and friendly to new players. Dont be afraid to get involved on discord or voice chat, being involved and active like this will help hugely, as it does in just about any MMO.

Sounds like a completely different game to what I was playing, corps were especially bad with some expecting spread sheets showing productivity if you wanted to keep your place lol. Always loved the concept of the game but it fell flat for me after a year or two of playing.

Sounds like my experience when I joined an Elite Dangerous player faction. It taught me that I'm more happy as a lone wolf (unless I have a loyal NPC follower or two). If a game requires that I join some sort of corp or faction, then I'm not interested. That said, I did join a guild in ESO, but there's no requirements on members by the leadership - I basically use it for player commerce (guild bank and store) and not much else at the moment.

The groups I joined were always chill. The only requirements were mostly about showing up at specified times. You know, to actually play together.
In ED we did the BGS and that can be grindy work but noone was required to fulfil any quotas. It's about fun - if you hit the tryhards, better think about if that is really what you want, you're likely just being used as minion so the "superiors" don't need to grind. When a game is grindy, there will always be efforts made to not do the grind, even if that entails having other players do it for you.

I logged about 850hrs playtime with EO. If PvP is your thing, you might love EO. Its possible to play PvE which is what I did, but only after learning the ropes. Player corporations will help you but only if you find the right ones. Plenty of player corps exist to exploit noobs or simply ignore them once you're paying taxes. Getting ganked is always a risk, but there're ways to minimize it and fly under the radar.

If you're looking for a good MP with persistent experience but not too tryhard: Foxhole. Not space game at all but all out PvP on a warscale with production, frontlines and behind the frontline activities. It's pretty good.

It looks like we're going to get the new hangar effects, along with 16 NEW SHIPS, on November 8:

I am really curious to see what the new faction warfare is going to be like. CCP has said that it will provide new gameplay for all types of players, not just PvPers.

Log In Event in EvE Online - 245 000 skill points.
Will try to find more time to play it. Every since Pearl Abyss took over, this game seriously changed for the better.
