Game Discussions Eve Online Havoc - Spacelegs Return

It looks like "space legs" are returning to Eve Online!

A new generation of war clones are about to impact New Eden, fighting for their survival and to free their consciousness. EVE Vanguard is a dynamic and evolving FPS experience in early development, and connected to EVE Online from Day 1.

More details are expected tomorrow!

I often get frustrated with the "white knights" who defend Elite's declining player numbers and sluggish development with the "Of course, the numbers are down and FDev is slowing development! The game is almost 10-years old!" platitude. CCP (amongst others) has demonstrated that a game can remain active and even thrive for a long, long time when the developers listen to the community and engage in active development. Sure, CCP has made mistakes, but after trying everything else:), they course-corrected and continued on, resulting in a game that has averaged 26K players a day over the course of this year. Again, this is for a twenty-year-old game. Not eight years, not ten years, but twenty years.

One of the Eve community's most repeated wishes was for CCP to return to DUST 514, and now they have. Well done, CCP. I think you've earned a sub from me.

Here we go: the full presentation (this should start at the Vanguard part of the talk, if not jump to the 42 minute mark):

I was happy to resub today, not just because there is a sale going on where 30 days of Omega is back to $15.99 :), but because I respect CCP's dedication to the future of Eve Online. Sure, I have my fair share of gripes with the game, but CCP is always swinging away to make the game better and more immersive, no matter how old it is. That is the type of dedication I wish I saw from other devs. :sneaky:

OA has made a video about the PvX shooter coming to Eve Online. Worth a watch:

I have only ever been a casual Eve player; I sub only a few times a year, and for a long time during Elite's golden years, I didn't sub at all. But every time I do return to the game, I enjoy the heck out of it. I think the current daily player count of around ~25K is a good place for casuals like me. When the game was at its peak in 2013, so many people were playing it that it was just too dangerous to ever leave hi-sec. At these numbers, making trips into low-sec and null as a solo is far more enjoyable, as there aren't mobs of murder hobos everywhere. Plus, CCP has made the casual player experience much more inviting and less punishing for newbies and casuals.
