Even on a GTX 660 Elite Dangerous + x52 + Dk2 = an amazing immersive experience!

I bought the X52 HOTAS specifically for Elite Dangerous and found that it added hugely to the immersion from using M&KB or gamepad. Then my Oculus Rift DK2 arrived and despite running a pretty old rig (i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 12Gb RAM, GTX 660) I get an amazing experience. The dogfighting and cabin realism is staggering, I honesty can't praise it enough, it's like a completely new game. I have to deal with judder pretty much all the time due to my old rig but it pales into insignificance to the feeling of being on the pilots seat and looking around the cabin and through ALL the windows during a hectic fight.

Notes:

- My rig is really creaking and a new i5, gtx970 based system is needed to get the SK2 running more smoothly
- if you use a DK2 you need to change the HUD to green to make it clearer. http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2p3784/you_can_manually_customize_the_gui_colors/
- spend time learning the layout of the HOTAS before you go VR.

sounds awesome, but alas I am a poor married man that can barely afford a new basic joystick, so I will have to settle for a logitech attack 3 in my left hand and a Thrustmaster T-16000 in my right, and get my self a EDtracker for the head tracking functionality and then I can maybe feel as immersed as you OP just maybe xD
