Ever accidentally sold a ship and wondered how?

I have.

But not today. Today I was wide awake, but I noticed what I believe is a rather nasty bug. I'd be interested if anyone can confirm it.

I went to to the Shipyard screen to change from my Cargo hauling Cutter to my Powerplay leaning Chieftain, and when I clicked on the Chieftain, I was immediately on the highlighted Sell Ship option. No other options were available, only Confirm or Cancel, so you would still have to mess up to accidentally sell your ship - however, if you've spent a few hours hauling freight and had a long day anyway...... to be confronted unexpectedly after clicking on the ship you want to fly, with Confirm or Cancel could (certainly in my case) lead to unfortunate consequences.

Maybe it's something Frontier want to take a look at to save them and Commanders some time and trouble (and stress). :)

Yes, I've also noticed that happen sometimes - though not consistently.

Interestingly, it only seems to happen to me if I click on the ship I want with the mouse. If I activate the ship selection using the keyboard instead, even after using the mouse to scroll and highlight that selection, it never does this, so that's my "well, at least this bug won't get me" workaround now.

That's interesting. I have a bit of a mouse issue here. The mouse sometimes loses it's usb connection, but as far as I know it only happens when I have ED running.

I maybe wrong on that, and I do have ED running quite a lot.

I have found that sometimes the mouse click seems to "bleed through" to the next screen and click on that as well as the screen that you meant to click on. It sounds like this is what is happening here.

I've noticed it when starting the game you can sometimes accidently end up in Open, and the other place that I have noticed it a lot is when clicking on the experimental effect button it can accidently choose an effect for you.

So like Ian I always try to select these with the keyboard. (but don't always remember!). This is a particularly nasty one so I will try and remember to press here as well!

I'd never done this, but i read this thread a few days ago and thought "I'd never be that dumb".
Guess what my dumb did today whilst trying to move equipment between ships on my gaming PC whilst working on my work laptop...

Fully engineered A rated Python mk2 gone... DOH!

Hi :)

But not today. Today I was wide awake, but I noticed what I believe is a rather nasty bug. I'd be interested if anyone can confirm it.

Yep, I've never actually sold a ship by mistake this way BUT!...I've come very very close..
Also as somebody else has mentioned, if you've been 'trucking' stuff for a long time (repetitive actions here) you get mentally tired, so I can see loss of concentration is probably the main enemy here, so it could lead to a couple of wrong mouse clicks....easily done I agree. :)

I've noticed it when starting the game you can sometimes accidently end up in Open, and the other place that I have noticed it a lot is when clicking on the experimental effect button it can accidently choose an effect for you.

Again, yes I've frequently experienced this. I've booted up the game to the first screen, and when I intend to click on Solo the game goes straight into open.
Coincidently a couple of weeks ago this happened again and I hadn't noticed. I was partaking in a CG at the time, I got interdicted by what I thought was probably an NPC pirate after my cargo, no sweat...I immediately submitted, (I don't play the 'mini game') and after a few seconds I suddenly realised it was another Cmdr.......I was in my 'Tank Trader' Cutter at the time so I just boosted away and went into super cruise. I didn't receive any damage and I don't think there was any loss of shields either. I docked at the CG cargo drop off point without any further incidents, exited the game and restarted in Solo, (double checked this time!) :D...perhaps the Cmdr. just wanted to say hello......🤷‍♂️.

On a separate note...I've also noticed when booting up the game for the first time, and using the auto launch, the game invariably doesn't register my throttle settings. I automatically have to press the X key on the keyboard, (I've got zero speed set to the keyboard default). This usually kicks back in the auto launch to it's correct settings (?), and my ship then auto exits the dock correctly. If I don't do this initially the ship will either just hang there without either moving or move backwards or forwards out of control. I sometimes also take charge and just exit the dock manually...depends how I feel.
Once I've done this though the game obviously registers my throttle, and I can play the game (also auto dock & auto launch) without any further trouble in this respect.

Jack :)

I did this the other day, sold my fully engineered Cobra Mk V, I was mightily unhappy, but after a few days of flying around I've now managed to replace her. I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

I too have experienced the direct to Open "x-ray click" but in the case of unintended ship selling I described, the pointer definitely relocated itself across the screen and I was presented with the Cancel/Confirm requester.

I remember I sold my first engineered exploration Asp by accident years ago, but not because of any mouse glitch (do all my menu navigation with the HOTAS as the mouse makes me sick in VR). I was just an idiot and ignored the warning when cleaning up unused hulls from my shipyard.
