Every mission I have tried to do this evening has been bugged.

Here's the rundown:

1) Settlement Raid - asked to kill 16, only 15 contacts present
  • Relogging didn't solve it
  • Leaving and returning didn't solve it

2) Scavenger Kill Mission - asked to kill 6, did so, waypoint updated to mission origination, cannot turn in mission
  • Relogging didn't let me turn it in
  • Flying back and killing them again produced the same result

3) Item Grab - Asked to get an item from a base. Terminal waypoint to container leads me to something apparently inaccessible underground

- Relogging fixed this one!

4) Assassination - Target flees to a planet that has exactly 1 settlement that is a Conflict Zone

- Didn't troubleshoot this one

I've had to abandon every mission I have tried this evening besides the item grab, and more importantly, I've lost hours making no progress.

Is there any way I can fix these bugged missions on my end? Is there a certain technique that fixes them, etc? Can you fine folks recommend a station to run missions that does not lead to buggy ones?

Thanks!

Thats the way its been working for me. Tried sticking to only conflict zones, but the last one i did had one surviving enemy that couldnt be found.

Guess ill check back after the last patch.

i have been doing assassination, restore and settlement raid missions with no issues

ymmv

Mind sharing what station you're running them out of? I have a theory that bugs are related to the settlements themselves. I have found missions that are consistently bugged across days worth of sessions.

Re-activation mission. If you power up using the power thingy you're provided, dont exit to main menu. Progress is reset and power thingy is gone so you cant complete the misison.

I took 4 missions a few hours ago; 3 local, 1 outside the system. Flew to the non-local system, planet and location/settlement of one of the missions - you know, blue colours for system selection and planet selection etc.

Before I did them, had to pop to the shops (obligatory Saturday night beers).

Logged back in at the system and planet I'd taken the missions, and ALL my missions had gone. In addition, when I took screenshots, they were high-res for some reason (took like 3-4 seconds more than normal and advertised the fact they were high res).

Restarted Windows, logged back in to game to check... Fluffed.

Ah well, at least I got some beers :)

This might not be what you want to hear, OP, but please don't apply your own workarounds to trash game design (believe me, I have to tell myself, too).

I say that because when we do that we're basically accepting that in spite of the game not working the way it tells us that it's going to, we can still make it work and that's OK.
It's not OK.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor for the long run. Catalogue these strings of failure and scream at FD to fix them.

Had this also once. Did you try to relog from launcher?

No. Just went on with my other bussiness. Weird though is that it popped up again later. But since I didn't have any power regulator left I couldn't finish it. Abandoned it and got a 100 k fine. Im ok with that, it's pocket change. However, it seems I can't pay the bloody fine with the interstellar factor. Guess I have to go back to the faction system...

Y'know, I actually agree with you. I couldn't make heads or tails of some of your previous posts but I think I'm willing to just let bygones be bygones.

Yeah; we shouldn't be forming our own loopholes to circumvent broken game mechanics as if that makes the game OK. We CAN find ways around it, but it doesn't mean we SHOULD HAVE TO.

If every game were released the way EDO was, I'd never get anything done in games because I'd be spending more time trying to work around bugs than I would actually playing the game. And frankly the whole "its fine, just give them time to fix it, learn to be patient" attitude isn't really helping either because it encourages FDev to just keep releasing broken products. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with expecting a thing you bought to work properly on the same day you purchased it, and don't let any of the forumdads convince you otherwise.

Yeah, at this point my missions are bugged more often than not. It's hard for me not to go on a rant about it here. I've seen that be quite counter productive however. For some reason there's a lot of people defending the state of the game. It already takes me a long time to get the materials I need for engineering. When 75% of my missions are bugged, it doubles the time. :(

Exactly.

And exactly. it's not just that mission type X is bugged. Everything in Elite takes time.... time launch and time to exit wells and time to fly to missions and time to visit nav beacons and time to enter wells... and even the time it takes to get some missions in the first place, considering the rep you have to gain with factions.

And when we spend all of that time trying to play the game the way the game tells us that we're going to be able to, and then the game fails to deliver, it's infuriating and disheartening. This especially goes for long-standing bugs that have persisted for years, or for mission sets where we as players beg FD to change the mechanics to make them more accessible.

I'm to the point now where I won't work around anything. If it's bugged, it gets logged and I'm screaming it from the rooftops.
