Everyone can come back into Open now...

I've been actively looking for a PvP encounter for over a week now. My last conflict was on July 8th...

A few days ago, for the first time in my 775 day Elite: Dangerous career, not a single commander from my friends list was online.

There is no longer anything dangerous about this game because the Engineers have destroyed the PvP player base.

If your ability to high wake wasn't enough assurance, now you'll never have to worry about getting "griefed" again.

Most people who are into PvP actually want the challenge of competition anyway.

Everyone can come back into Open now...

EDIT: As it turns out, my router's Universal Plug and Play feature has been getting in the way of my ability to see as many players as possible for over two years. I decided to follow these instructions laid out by Phil_T_Casual on Reddit and I'm now seeing CMDRs EVERYWHERE! I highly suggest that everyone who hasn't already done this, do so NOW so we can put all these instancing headaches behind us. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Unfortunately, the PvP player base has still taken a large hit. Hopefully it recovers soon...

Hiiii!

I'm in Open.

I only ever see CMDRs near Engineers locations. Lol

I don't do PvP though.
(My Python isn't geared at all for it)

So if you spot me. Don't expect me to fight.
I also have nothing of value worth pirating. Lol

Well if the griefers lived only to gank other Cmdrs in ED guess I'll just say "Cya!"

As for me if you can get high speed internet out in the country here I'll be more then happy to play in Open.

Why should I play in open? I am not interested in a multiplayer experience, I prefer to play Elite as a singleplayer game. This has nothing to do with PvP.

A little bit sad at all, i'm not a PvP player but from time to time the Player-Pirates made the universe a bit more alive and feeling robbed than NPC's^^

PS:
I hate griefers, but pirates i like somehow. (Can't explain it better)

Sometimes I wonder if that was an intended outcome. I wished FDev could shed some light on their long term intentions. Endorse and support PVP or phase it out?

They've said several times that they don't want to focus on PvP, it's an option but not a core feature. Don't expect gameplay to be designed around PvP because that's not what they want to do.

What a weak excuse.
How in the world would Engineer upgrades wreck that "true warrior spirit" of Gankers...err...PvP'ers?

Obviously the answer lies elsewhere.
Casual upgraded Cmdr's no longer an easy and helpless target?
Cmdr's tired of the greifers stupidity and playing Solo?
Newbies refusing to be their content?

Here we go again!

Thanks you for your kind invitation but as a soloist, I have to decline. Thanks all the same.

EDIT:

Now that I think bout it, since I have never been in Open, I can't "come back to open" as you suggest, so your invitation doesn't apply to me anyway.

Still, no thanks.

I'm not expecting that ED becomes PVP focused; that would go too far. It looks like though as if a quarter of the player base enjoys PVP and some development time commited to PVP seems justified.

What exactly would the PvP'ers want to make them happy?
Traders got to find trade routes, miners have to find rocks, and explorers have to head out in the black.
If people want to PvP they will and if they don't the don't. What do they wish handed to them on a platter?
