Everything that needs fixing in Planet Coaster 2

Here is my list of problems I've come across, things that make the game feel unfinished, and quality of life things missing that were in previous games. Most if not all of these are just things that were in Planet Coaster 1 and Planet Zoo and seem to simply be missing or broken, leading to players' frustration. I will strike through ones fixed in patches/updates (let me know if anything has been fixed that I missed), and add any more I encounter.

  • No setting for game music to only play in pause mode
  • Can’t edge scroll
  • Move the heatmap button to the side or bottom, it being at the top is incredibly distracting
  • Redesign temporary/placeholder-looking grey full-screen pause menu screen
  • Browser thumbnails are pixelated and have anti-alias issues (e.g. corrugated wall and bamboo wall look terrible)
  • Browser thumbnails have lighting issues (e.g. brick rounded wall appears black)
  • Browser thumbnails are too small (probably reason they're so pixelated), need to be bigger like PC1 and Planet Zoo or have size option like Planet Zoo
  • Allow us to undo last placed point on the path draw tool, not just cancel the whole thing completely
  • Allow us to adjust friction for individual coasters
  • Allow us to change fixed sun time by the minute, not only the hour, like previous planet games
  • Hovering over facility in menu doesn’t tell you what it is or how much it costs
  • Please bring back ghost-test coaster train when in pause mode
  • Double clicking a built facility brings up the grid to start building, but doesn’t auto-open building browser panel for walls etc which is annoying
  • Double clicking a built wall piece doesn’t auto-open the building browser panel to continue building
  • Double clicking a building to edit it auto-moves camera to center on the clicked piece and is very annoying, however clicking the 'edit building' button does not move the camera
  • Add 'copy existing texture' button on the 'add path' tab when customise brush is selected so we don't have to keep clicking back and forth on different tabs
  • Can't change regular path to staff path without deleting and building new
  • Bug won't allow us to change existing path to natural path, and can't customise natural path to be any other texture
  • Clicking away from a scenery piece doesn’t unselect scenery piece
  • No “x” button on search bar when searching scenery
  • When building inside group, hovering over an already placed piece doesn’t tell you the name of the piece
  • Clicking the coaster station cancels coaster testing every time and you have to manually press “start test” again every time
  • Hovering over coaster element icons when building a coaster doesn’t tell you what the element is until you click it, making it annoying to browse available elements
  • You have to manually select the middle bit of two sections of track to be able to do “smooth forwards” and "smooth backwards" which is tedious, please allow us to begin smoothing forward and backward with only one piece of track selected
  • In coaster cam you should be able to cycle through seats, but you have to press back 5 times to go to the back row (row 5), instead of forward once to go to the back, i.e. a cycle button
  • In coaster cam pressing the 'interest' mode button continually should cycle through the different interest types, instead of having to press the separate interest cycle button
  • Blue transparent grid makes fences fuzz and lose anti-aliasing underneath
  • Blue grid when building needs to be much more transparent, it makes building in the dark very difficult
  • The “flat roofs” tab still features sloped roofs
  • Can’t zoom in whilst changing scenery colour until you press confirm
  • The pathing 'edit tool' and 'rounding tool' buttons needs to be in the queue path tab as well as regular path tab, as we currently having to click between them to edit path edges
  • Selected scenery/coaster's white outline needs to disappear when changing its colour
  • A random blue box pops out behind the notification icons when you hover over them but disappears when you click, looks messy and placeholder UI
  • Why does it play fake park sound effects of a park in the management screen? It says paused but I hear guests so it's confusing. My park is empty yet it’s playing roller coasters and screams
  • Management screen needs to be re-designed to fit into browser like Planet Coaster 1 and Planet zoo on PC, it being full-screen is unintuitive and unengaging and console-focused
  • The generator's sound loops with a sound break inbetween
  • Remove the blue overlay when coaster is selected, you can't see the colour changes
  • Guest animations completely glitch out on coasters with OTSR's during airtime
  • The scenery piece you’re currently placing is not highlighted in the browser, making it difficult to know which one you’re actually placing
  • Bring back the 'random rotation' toggle for trees, rocks, bushes etc
  • Bushes change to low poly very abruptly on max settings and you can't increase the draw distance
  • Clicking the staff name in facility panel under “assigned” doesn’t open that staff’s panel or take you to them
  • Bring back staff training
  • Lifeguards don't work, they idle and get stuck
  • Can't change all staff type's uniform colours at once
  • Scenery thumbnails missing small medium large indicators on trees and rocks which was very useful when browsing for foliage and rocks, currently no way to know which ones are big or small
  • Pressing H turns on heatmaps but pressing H again doesn’t close them
  • Clicking the scenery score heat map doesn’t allow you to leave the heat map view with right click and x button is hidden
  • Selecting an object and shift selecting another does not turn on multi select, please make shift+selecting multiple auto-activate multi-select
  • Remove the need to "confirm selection" when multi-selecting
  • Right clicking doesn’t exit heatmaps which is annoying and inconsistent as it exits other screens
  • Space bar doesn’t angle snap when placing vending machine, sun loungers, picnic tables
  • Coaster browser hover tooltip disappears after a few seconds
  • Rides should open with 'bargain' as default so guests will always ride straight away, currently they never ride until you manually change it from custom
  • Coasters with separate onload and unload stations don't have separate 'build on station' grids
  • Make UI sound effects and ride sound effects separate in the settings. I want the UI sound effects as loud as they are but to make the ride sounds quieter
  • Pressing undo when building makes the piece reverb back to default colour
  • When building a wall that you've recoloured, selecting and placing another wall type from that set should also place that wall with the same recolour settings like it does in Planet Zoo
  • Disable or make an option to disable the camera focussing on scenery where it makes the camera stick to the roof, it makes looking into buildings difficult and tedious switching between cameras
  • Top guest thoughts don’t update after litter all cleaned it persists as the top thought
  • Terrain stamp tool is missing
  • Restaurants, hotels, modular gift shops, vista points and snow are missing
  • Missing the cinematic route editor camera (programmable flythrough points of your park like in Planet Zoo) and camera colour grading styles from Planet Zoo
  • Coaster duelling/synchronisation option is missing
  • Vests on wave coaster pop through guests, vests on wing coaster aren't attached to anything
  • Flume platform placement doesn’t show height marker
  • Moving flume platform causes existing platform to stay where it is during ghost move and acts as an obstruction, meaning you have to move it very far for it to be permitted
  • Allow us to quit the game from the pause settings screen not just quit to main menu
  • “Track exceeds limits” always comes up when smoothing type set to “all” on flumes, but works fine when smoothing type set to “height” or “turn”
  • Make browser stay open when selecting, moving, deleting pieces I've placed
  • Clicking on the terrain with the push/pull tools etc doesn’t activate unless you hold for a second, making minute adjustments difficult
  • Clicking a scenery brush causes the game to sometimes crash
  • Camera automatically moves to an object when you press M, but not when you press the move button. It shouldn’t for either
  • When scenery is selected, 'Locate in browser' doesn’t highlight the object
  • Placing bins return to default colour with each new placement
  • We are allowed to advanced move a multi select of multiple benches, not one selected bench
  • Can’t recolour flume platform path or railing
  • Log flume and river rapids running water needs re-designing, looks extremely poor
  • Guests ignore barriers at pool edges and still get out there
  • 'Edit coaster' pops up with automatic close confirmation, editing flume does not
  • 'Look forward' cam is too high on water slide flumes
  • Can’t adjust volume of music or ambience on speakers (individually, not globally in settings), music much too loud
  • Sound mixing needs work, screams are too loud and can be heard when the ride is off screen and far away, should change to ambient reverberated screamscape sound like planet coaster 1
  • Option to fade out triggered sounds in sequencer when sound is cut short by 'play for' length
  • Need a search bar in audio selection window when picking audio for speakers
  • Copying speaker doesn’t keep applied sound to new one
  • Tabs still open on 'blueprints' by default, should open on 'create custom' for everything
  • P pause doesn’t work when in tab UI hidden mode
  • P for pause doesn’t work when attaching scenery to animatronic moving platforms
  • Test button on coaster sometimes glitches and doesn't work when in coaster edit mode, meaning you have to press dozens of times to register
  • Allow more guests to line up at airgates since there's a big empty space on the station behind them
  • No option to adjust exit speed on drop/lift etc elements on multiverse coaster
  • Please allow guests to board the empty train when the last guests have got off it, not having to wait completely for them to all leave the exit gate, it looks awkward
  • When you press “create custom” (instead of blueprints) in the browser it doesn’t remember what tab you were in e.g. staff facilities
  • Interval time option needed for the helter skelter flat ride, they currently have to wait for the guest to do and exit the ride one at a time and looks extremely awkward and creates low throughput
  • Staff scheduler has error boxes but when you hover over them they disappear
  • Night sky doesn’t look like a night sky, the moon is so bright the sky looks like day/light dusk, clouds are too bright
  • Can’t recolour changing room and toilets after placing them
  • Can’t place the conveyor belt lift hill start at the bottom of a lift hill when building the log flume lift hill backwards
  • Make saving automatically select the park you’re on before confirming like planet zoo, many people have accidentally overwritten parks due to this
  • Put back the ability to nudge up the camera to be above peoples heads in first person camera mode like in planet zoo
  • Shift doesn’t work when trying to raise walls after changing the colour, you must click confirm before you can use shift
  • Often, duplicating a wall puts that wall on a different and wrong grid height
  • Put back ability to place bins and benches on the outer edge of the path edge like planet coaster 1 and planet zoo, not only on the inside edge
  • Let us disable the alt control wheel on PC, it gets annoying on frequent accidental presses and seems console-focused anyway
  • Staff/guests don't understand paths that are an island in the middle of a pool, pathfinding only works if the path is connected to the main park and back to the entrance
  • Station entrances and exits require too much space, don’t allow for smaller stations, and don’t line up with scenery doorways
  • Colour isn’t added to recent colours when picking and changing colours on light trigger sequence such as “swap colour”
  • Obvious repetition of the same one man’s screaming sound during any prolonged hangtime/stall inversion moment, needs more variety or make scream less frequent
  • Let us type down to 0.01 seconds in the sequencer so we can make strobe lights, currently it is a 0.20 seconds minimum which makes strobe lights impossible, this was possible in PC1
  • Luxury meter doesn't work, guests need to be able to visit multiple gift shops, especially when modular gift shops are added from Planet Zoo (I think this is fixed?)
  • No glass option for mat flume, but there are glass options for all other flume types
  • Make all lights triggerable, not just a select few
  • Staff should wait to swap with the next staff member before taking break and not just abandon the ride, like they do at food stalls in Planet Zoo
  • Testing turns itself off when you edit the station and you have to manually start test again
  • Allow auto tunnel when placing a coaster so it doesn’t error with “intersect terrain” and can be placed into the ground and not on stilts
  • Include “quit to desktop” in the options not only “quit to main menu”
  • Have a quit game icon in the corner always on the main menu so we don’t have to press “back” “main menu” every time we exit a park to be able to quit the game
  • Increase max guest wait tolerance cap from 17 minutes, it makes our elaborately themed queues only used towards the front and guests turn away from modest queues
  • Stop needing to press duplicate again per every placement of multi-selected scenery (e.g. selecting 2 or more walls at once and duplicating, you need to press duplicate again every time you want to keep placing them)
  • Height adjustment by holding shift before placing an object needs to then stop once that object has been placed, currently, more often than not, the following object's placement is glitched/locked into that same height adjustment, meaning you have to cancel placement and click it again from the browser, making it very tedious to place multiple rocks and foliage
  • The 'chain' scenery pieces don't highlight when selected
  • Clicking a piece of placed scenery closes the scenery browser, can we just allow both open at the same time please like every other planet game?
  • When building a coaster, allow us to just click on an existing piece of track to edit it on PC like Planet Coaster 1. Having to click between 'edit mode' and 'construction' mode is because this game was developed for console. It shouldn't need to do this on PC.
  • Ability to set zones/boundaries where guests can and cannot wander in swimwear
  • Ability to remove supports from flume platforms
  • Need re-colourable glass (the glass itself being tinted with colour)

Can we add the Celsius to Fahrenheit option to be fixed. I keep selecting Fahrenheit and applying it, but it reverts back to Celsius as soon as I close the settings menu. I'm an American and only use Fahrenheit. Thanks!

Same problem here. Always goes back to Celsius. Also some times the game decides it wants to delete my saves. I backup my parks on the workshop, but it has not been working for a few days. Frontier, I know you can fix this stuff. Thank You. :)
 
What I am missing and having a lot of struggles with, is the staffing management and zones. I like to have different zones on the same areas for different staff types. I want my mechanics to stay closer to rides, my vendors closer to my food courts etc. and now it is just all over the place (staff walking where they shouldn't, which makes no sense) and I need to see propely where everyone is, like, highlighted in the heatmaps for example. I miss being able to point out my staff on the map and check them from a small menu, but since that is fullscreen now it makes it annoying to keep track of everyone. I do understand that they tried to make the game console and pc ready at the same time to save some cost, but I hope they quickly agree that it was a mistake. I have a 1440p Ultrawide and fullscreen menu's are rediculous (since 50% of the screen is just white).

So TL;DR
  • Add the possibility to overlap different staff zones
  • Add staff types to the heatmaps menu
  • Drop the fullscreen menu's for staffing, or add a mini version of it for easier overview

Cheers and lets hope we can scratch more and more off that list (edit: I have to say that some things that were annoying at the start just needed to get some more used to and are actually great once you are, so some things you see as a problem, I don't agree with). :)
 
This very comprehensive and accurate list of things along with all the other issues people in the Planet series community have brought up shows one very blatant thing with this game. Frontier completely seems to have had a total disregard of any sort of quality assurance/quality control before releasing this game. The evidence being put forth by players shows more and more that this game was rushed through development with some shiny new features (pathing abilities, water slides and pools) trying to gloss over how poor quality everything else is in some sort of hail-mary attempt to get an infusion of funds for the studio. The community expects so much more from this studio with how well the other planet games have progressed and improved upon themselves and each other over the years. In no way am I asking for a perfect game with everything we enjoyed in the other games but even the basics have been rushed and poorly implemented - UI, QoL features, the movement of a tree trying to simulate swaying in a breeze being absurdly awful, etc etc. The game was rushed and done in a way to try to reach as many possible players via PC and console at once and the result is a game that has made so many passionate fans now have a tarnished view of Frontier. The sense of personal stake and passion from the developers like we had with PC is gone. The sense of excitement and inclusion that we saw with PC is gone. No longer are there the interactions we as a community got to experience with members of of the frontier team with all the different reveals and explanation/informational streams and all the different interactions in the forums with the community managers/etc. The new norm now seems to be a lot of silence and honestly, feels like apathy towards the community and the product they are putting forth. I sincerely hope they are taking the narrative the community is expressing to heart and incorporate the desired changes to make a game that becomes the next adored one in the franchise.
 
I think Frontier is another company that is victim to the shareholders who wanted results quick. It is a sad development in the gaming industry, but not anything I haven't seen before (cough Cyberpunk).
I do agree that this game should have been in development longer, but I am not entirely sure if Frontier, or at least, its developers are fully to blame on this. They will fix everything I am very confident, as they will probably have 20 DLC's planned which will most likely contain now missing features they purpously keep for those and if the base game keeps being bad, they will not sell many of them. Don't forget PC1 was not as full and featured when it began, I left that after career for a year or two and picked it up when a lot of DLC's were added. The glory came later, so just enjoy what it has now, as much as you can! (I am having a lot of fun tbh) :giggle:

Hu? How would be your solution be? Cause the game doesn't know what i want to smooth and so on. Maybe i want to smooth 3 pieces on a curved drop and so on. It really doesn't make sense to me, to have an edit option available, without selecting what you want to edit first.

I know you want your 4x4 smooth back and forth, but i can live with the option to select anything first. If i could change one thing, i want the tool to be intelligent and simply skip 'prefab' elements like blocksections and so on and not just stop at them. Because this is way more tedious for me than selecting the first part of smoothing.

I am for it, but was that ever an option? There maybe some foggy memory, but did you have to unpause the game, when you were testing even in consturction?

Where is staff training?
Here I am still hoping, they will revise this feature, like have a staff actually attend an admin building and miss his shifts for the time. But before we get there, i want the actual pc2 staff management to be overhauled, cause right now there is a lot left to be desired

One Autosave per park is also a desired feature, manual saving is so 1999. Though i also like the above feature but i feel more progress was lost, cause people switched parks and forgot that the park isn't saved manually.

Actually when you assign people to rides, the handover is relatively smooth. So if the Staffui is an acceptable status, where you can rotate your staff around rides, with allocated staffbuildings and so on, i like this feature as punishment for not doing it right.

Here I would like some diffrence, plain queuetollerance is not a good solution. For example: my personal queue tollerance for an SLC would be 5-10 mins, for a B&M Hyper i would wait longer. Also bring back queue theming, like if a queue is themed, people should take longer queues.
I still feel there should be an elaborate Crowdmanagement. Long queues should be punished and guests should avoid longer queues, but at the same time the game financially punishs you (as pay per ride) for optimizing your rides.



My addition:

  • Power/Watersystem rework.Right now it is just a chore, not a meaningful decision.
  • Still give us some decent management challenges. Maybe bring back guest money? But right now, you earn too easy money without having real operation costs.
  • individual colorizable coaster trains
  • Staffui rework (if you don't know what to fix @frontier: have 10 rides, 15 shops and try to build up an efficient staffrotation. This system is hell)
  • GuestAI/ needs / pathfinding: it is better, but not quite there yet.
  • Parkcrowds: i still feel till ~3000-4000 guests the crowds you get are too big for your parks. (trickles down in my second point), also cut a bit the effect of parkrating in combinaion with max guests.
  • more diversity: rides feel the same from management standpoint: i am ok with the tiny eye being a crap ride it, it shouldn't be pimped by enhancing the pay per ride costs. Especially if it goes the way that the entrance to a decently themed tiny eye is like to 2 hours salary of a janitor. Having the bare minimum price of 20-50 for some low capacity ride feels wrong, when i charge for my coaster 15.
Also more 'diffrent' guest preferences, i am missing the favorite ride feature and so on. It adds flavor and character to your game.

Sorry I guess my wording was bad on this, I've amended it in the original post, the smoothing system as it is is great, but I think you should be able to begin smoothing forward and backward with one piece selected, without having to manually select the 'middle' bit (i.e. two track pieces) for it to let you smooth forward and backward

In Planet Zoo you can toggle on random rotation when placing scenery, meaning you can place individual rocks and trees that randomly rotate each time so it looks natural. Players don't always want to use the scenery brush, we often want to place many trees individually and this toggle just made it a delight in Planet Zoo.

In Planet Zoo 1 you were able to have the coaster testing in pause mode, and the train would appear as a white ghosted train, think of it like a testing preview as opposed to the actual train going around. I guess we can all live without it of course, but it was just a nice quality of life thing to be able to spend ages building and testing in pause mode without having to let the whole park simulation go on in the background like we do now

I initially said dynamic as that always works me for, making it cost 0 automatically if there is an entrance fee is. If bargain does the same then that would work. At the end of the day it should always just open free and guests will ride it, and we have to manually make it cost if we want to. Because currently when you open a ride no one rides it until you change the price.

In Planet Zoo there is no need to press multi-select, you can hold shift and select multiple items. There is then no need to confirm selection, you can just carry on with whatever you've selected. It's absolutely redundant and bizarre we have to do this now and should be the first thing they remove as a matter of urgency.
