EVOCHRON LEGACY

Was just about to post about this. Has many things that are missing from ED. I played Mercenary too. Can definitely recommend. Proof of what can be done with limited resources and that Planetary Landings doesn't have to be so complicated or take baby steps (multiple expansions) to implement. Considering it's developed by 1 guy, it's very good. If it's anything like Mercenary tt won't have quite the staying power of ED, but mainly because there isn't as much to grind toward, nor does it take as long, but it would still manage to be worth the money and the multiplayer is not instanced.

Its great to see him still following his vision for the game. Evochron Merc was and still is a great game. This will hopefully be better still. I think he has reached far more in-depth than ED, just have to not worry too greatly about graphics. Game-play is all important, FD could learn from this one man dev. Graphics are nothing without decent game-play, as we've seen soo many times over the years.

What I find really depressing is, people leave negative comments (Steam), when it all boils down to those players leaving those negative comments, because 'they' can't be bothered to take the time to learn the games basics. It happens to so many good games on Steam. Or indeed can't get over the graphics or GUI etc. Give the game some hours (many) and then players will appreciate it more.
.
This game will take a number of weeks (at casual playing hours) probably, to learn and appreciate what has gone into this game. This statement is based on the first Evochron Merc, but I fully believe this will be just as in-depth.

I would not worry about it, first Evohron was/is very well rated. I`m sure this one will be too. Added to my steam wish list, cant wait to play it.

I bought it yesterday. Just a few hours but I can tell it has the same flavour as EM with potentially more depth with the new craft and building system.

In some cases, EL like EM is less frustrating than ED:
Only one instance so that it 's very easy to find someone on the map. Chat text easy to use.
Save as you want. No rebuy cost.
True offline mode.
Less time consuming travel for doing anything.

True offline mode?

SOLD!

I played Evochron Mercenary and liked it a lot, and bought Evochron Legacy yesterday. So far I'm enjoying it at least as much as ED.

If only ED had all of EM's features, or EM had ED's graphics and game engine.

oh wow...its out a lot earleir than i thought. Last i heard the dev was saying he had some major development hurdles (technical stuff) to face which if not resolved could mean he couldn't finish the game. And now there it is.

I kinda revere Shaun Bower. the guy kept the genre alive when nobody cared. And now i fear hes gonna be very overshadowed by ED and SC. But there he still is, plowing away at his games, BY HIMSELF (this deserves noting) like he's been for 20 years. Generally uncelebrated. In my pantheon it should be Braben, Roberts and Bower. No less. Even if yes, im very aware that a lot of the evochron game stuff is taken straight from Elite. But then again the same applies to Roberts.

I sank a lot of hours in Evochron Mercenary.

Excellent write-up and i agree 100% CMDR,loving Legacy it "feels" like a space sim should,TRUE offline mode a Dev that.s already looking and fixing some player issues.

A Dev who listens to his community,i hope Evochron sells bucketloads it truly deserves too

I bought it got 40% discount as I already had mercenary, and I havnt looked at E:D:h since I got it
Ed cost me £200+ to back E:L cost me £11
I hope that one day E:D will be enjoyable to play and I will come back and perhaps get my money's worth like I am with evochron

You know I forgot all about the 40% off offer. Don't think its on there anymore, looks like I'll be paying retail price. Still even at £18.99 its worth every penny, compared to some I've backed that have cost.. well much more. ;)
.
I found this with Space Engineers, I paid £11.99 for that, touching a 1000hrs in and I'm still only scratching the surface. Plus now planets are in, and at no extra cost, you got to stop, look and think, sometimes. Just how easy it is to forget, great games that give you thousands of hours can cost very little.

Tbh legacy is just mercenary with updated graphics and a change to how factions work , now no clans like before but only alliance and federation but it's more playable than E:d the beauty is only skin deep

To be fair, clans system didn't work at all but you may still create wings whatever Faction side.
With the new dynamic economy and territory system, that's like a new game. Building and crafting mechanics are more deep and useful than before.
