Excessive Clutter in the Galaxy map -please can we have some more control?

I have noticed that since the release of Power Play the galaxy map has become really cluttered and there are limited options for adjusting what is displayed. Chief amongst this clutter are the route lines between systems. The ability to turn off these route lines would be most welcome in my view as I find they quite often make dynamic interaction with the map difficult. Sure you can always use the Nav tab and enter the system name there but I like to be able to pan and rotate the map to look at nearby systems and the clutter makes it difficult to click on a system at times.

The hit box around a system needs to be expanded as well so that when you place your cursor over a star you don't have to get it spot on before the information appears!

I have also noticed that the system information 'pop-up' box does not always disappear when you move your cursor off the target system and quite often it will only disappear if you rotate the map. Again this makes it difficult to look at those area's covered by the pop-up unless you move the map which may mean you lose track of what you were trying to look at in the first place.

The ability to be able to set your own waypoints on the map would be a great benefit to exploration and navigation for those ships with short jump ranges as quite often I don't want to follow the routes dictated by the game or need to be able to plot a route around un-scoopable stars. Is this something that could be implemented devs? Interactive way-point plotting is standard fair in flight sim games.

Does anyone else suffer from these or other issues with the galaxy map?

Turn off the route lines between systems: deselect whichever of the fastest routes/economical routes you have selected.

The pop-up box doesn't disappear until you select something else because it used to disappear too quickly. This way is much better.

I second this, I really dislike the pop up that comes with hovering the mouse pointer over a star system and having this large box form around it and preventing me from selecting other star systems nearby.

can we just have all our information neatly on the left hand panel and give us a free area to work with without these UI obstructions; I mentioned this to FD since Beta 3 of ED 1.0

Ah, your the man...I didn't realise you could actually completely de-select both route planning types - thanks mate much better. ;)

It's occasionally annoying, but nowhere near as much so as the way the box used to disappear the moment you tried to mouseover it unless you had the system centred in your screen.

Perhaps if they allowed it to be linked it to a key press so that it stays put until you select something else or hit the appropriate key to remove the pop-up...that would give the best of both worlds.

How do you turn off the route lines between systems

You have to appreciate that as ED now has to cater for consoles and more specifically their controllers, that there will be some constraints on some GUIs like the galaxy map, on the number of options that can be given due to the limits of those said controllers.
Sometimes a keyboard is the best controller.

This really should not be the case...too often PC gamers have had to put up with crappy platform ports, this is the opposite way round. ED was created first and foremost for the PC so any dumbing down for console should be done specifically on the ported version and shouldn't really be affecting the PC version.

This as well. +1, &c. &c.

So now that I have helpfully been informed about how to remove those annoying route lines a quick question. If both Fastest routes and Economical routes are de-selected do you get an average of the two? I have just checked and the system does still plot a route for you with both options turned off.

The popup system window could be a permanent window placed in the corner, its one of the most annoying things in the game :/
