Excessive Fleet Carriers

I am still fairly new here, only been playing for about a year. I think the Fleet Carriers are a great enhancement, but I do have one complaint. There are some systems, Kruger 60 comes to mind, and there are others that are far worse, where there are so many fleet carriers in the system that when the system is mapped significant items are pushed way off the display. I can't believe all of these carriers are player owned and all of them are parked in the same systems. Certainly there has to be a better way of handling this many carriers in one system.

There is a way of filtering them out on your left panel, but I find it easier to just use the system map, but I know what you mean, you spend ages scrolling down the list only to realise you've gone past the station and have to scroll back up...then down again...then up ah there it is!

You can get rid of them by using the navigation filters... and then selecting ALL the options except Fleet Carriers.

It might be better, however, if the navigation filters had a tick-box for "SHOW Fleet Carriers" instead.
That'd mean you could open your nav-HUD and click one filter to show stations, bases or HGEs and then click "reset filters" when you're done, instead of having to go back into the filters and tick everything except FCs.

I don't really see that there is. It's pretty clear that FDev intended for them to be a significant cash sink and truly end-game content. Players moaned sufficiently loudly about the cost of equipping them, the cost of upkeep, the cost of decommissioning and the cost (both in credits and time) of fueling them that FDev backtracked on every aspect, making them something far more affordable, which in turn means considerably more players can own one.

Now we're left with this and people are still moaning about the fact they can't buy unlimited tritium everywhere for 4k per unit, despite the fact that carriers are already 4x more fuel efficient than they were originally intended to be.

The only way they could address it would be to lower the hard cap on the number of carriers allowed in a system; do that and there will be another load of whining from players about how they can't jump their carrier where they want having paid 5 billion credits for it.

It's a great lesson in the fact that actions have consequences.

Or give us multiple filter options.

Main thing is, the default setting should be to NOT show FCs so that, after you've been twiddling with the filters, clicking "reset filters" will make FCs disappear again.
Pretty certain Fdev see FCs showing as a 'feature'. It's easier to convince them to give us the ability for multiple filters we can set and flick through (as well as a no filter option). Plus, it gives other benefits too.

I agree some systems are swamped with FC parasites, like it caused this Orange Sidewinder loss of connection error in recent time in the Diaguandri system. Luckily Forntier has fixed this error, but now I thought if I can't beat them, might as well join them. So I bought a FC myself :ROFLMAO:

When Space legs turn up can the be a 1% cumulative chance per carrier in system that 2 carriers will somehow warp together and become a twisted nightmarish version of themselves that the owners (and potentially any docked CMDRs) will have to fight through to the jump engines and hold off hordes of horrifically monstrous creatures as the ships get de-coupled and back to normality.

Please...?

Too flippin bad I say

They should do it

Again, too flippin bad.

Maybe look at why all those Fleet Carriers are there? In the bubble it often makes no sense. So many players not knowing what to do with their new toy. In other systems why are so many around a specific ring planet system? Maybe because of mining hot spots? Take advantage trading with them at max profits. Other players are doing great at this. Call it advanced trading. It is a new game with Fleet Carriers.

I do agree it is an odd situation. You buy a Fleet Carrier, presumably to carry your Fleet and you park it up in a system that has at least one station in it. Why not just make that your base of operations?

The only times I've parked mine in a popular spot was when I first purchased it, then went back later to add services. I spend so little time in populated areas now that I own one. Each to their own. It might help if you could select to not let anyone land on yours then it isn't persistent across all modes and formats because what's the point? I still don't think that would trim much of the list though.

OP is talking about the System map not the NAV panel! Every time this comes up people start suggesting NAV panel filters. Read the post!
Everyone knows how to filter the stupid NAV panel. The issue is the System map. It is a disgusting, cluttered trash heap that needs fixing.

I reckon you could parallel park a few more in there easy.

That's nothing compared to a trip to the Trafford Centre on a Saturday.

Fleet carriers should get their own tab. Anyone interested in them can click on it and enjoy looking at them to their hearts content.
I personally would only like to see pretty stars, planets, moons and roids. Stations and docks are fine too. Like in the good old days.

I was only joking.

I think the limit is too high. I think that needs to be changed and then a queuing system introduced (can't jump to the system you want because the limit is lower? Queue for your spot and select a nearby star system to park in. As soon as a spot opens, your FC starts the jump sequence).
