Excursion length - what do you think about this?

You don't need to TL: DR four lines of words.

Follow up question: You mention staying out in the black as long as someone wants - should that be an explorer class ship only thing? Should exclusively combat ships be able to have infinite ammo from their thermal weapons? I don't have answers, I'm looking for more elaborate discussion.

Part of Elite's Charm is that all ships can be used for all things
Yes ships have a role in mind but that doesn't stop people using them in ways outside that leaning

Having it such that
"Sorry your ZPG Hauler is a Trader not an Explorer, you can not explore in it any more without suffering a failure the Explorers will not"
And
"Yes despite having the same Class one weapon and a bigger Power distributor, for cooling; the same Pulse laser on your Cobra will fail before it fails on the Eagle, because the Eagle is a Combat ship. Oh and you Cannot take your cobra Exploring either as it isnt an Exploration ship, failures in things will occur"
And
"Only half size cargo racks, per internal, on non Trader ships, sorry Multiroles"

A step backwards to limit game play styles to certain ships

Skiprat, if you feel exploration is too easy and you can get anywhere in any ship, I would like to see a screen shot of you in the " unprepared sidewinder " you spoke of in thread you started in Suggestions from NCG 7822

You should never call people out, you will only make yourself feel like a fool.

Yes ships, have a role in mind, that is because that is what they are suited too... But no, according to you a Type 9 can be used as interceptor fighter because the charm is that all ships can be used for all things... Give over... Some ships like the Cobra MKIII are a multi-role ship, Asp explorer, fantastic explorer ship and a good all-rounder too. Eagles, vipers, vultures are fighters and more or less useless at everything else, but the jump range on an eagle means it can go travelling, type 6 can make an okay explorer, but a type 7 and type 9 for anything else other than trading... come on...

Pythons are fantastic all rounders...

No, definitely not all ships can be used for all things, completely and utterly wrong.

YES. YES YES YESSSSSS! this IS the kind of thing that we need. I think to combat the trading side of this, is to make routes dry up and regenerate very fast. after so many trips other routes will be much more profitable, and you will have to find another route. But if you write those old routes down, you will remember them when they are profitable again later. The trade economy should also be very reactive to things moving around at large quantities, if thousands of tons of materials are being brought into an Industrial economy, sooner or later the prices on all of the Industrial goods will drop. You know.. that gives me an idea... ;)
