Exhibit Fish

Do you know any fish (preferably rare) that would look great in the game? The rule is that these fish are small, so their aquariums are the kind that you keep in your house and not an actual zoo. These fish, therefore, would be considered exhibit animals like the boa and iguana.

If you want threatened species for small aquaria, fish are somewhat a mixed blessing. Great because there is an enormously diverse range of species to choose from, sad because so many of them are threatened with extinction. Just some threatened fishes, both fresh and saltwater, that would work in smaller aquaria include:

Extinct in the Wild
Potosi pupfish (Cyprinodon alvarezi), golden skiffia (Skiffia francesae)

Critically Endangered
Red-tailed black shark (Epalzeorhynchos bicolor), coral red pencilfish (Nannostomus mortenthaleri), Japanese rosy bitterling (Rhodeus smithii), dwarf pygmy goby (Pandaka pygmaea), European eel (Anguilla anguilla), spotted handfish (Brachionichthys hirsutus)

Endangered
Blaasop beauty puffer (Chelonodon pleurospilus), Boeseman's rainbowfish (Melanotaenia boesemani), zebra loach (Botia striata), Bangaii cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni), red-lined torpedo barb (Sahyadria denisonii)

Vulnerable
Mbam killifish (Aphyosemion dargei), Rohan's barb (Dawkinsia rohani), brick seamoth (Pegasus laternarius), Brunei beauty fighting fish (Betta macrostoma), clarion angelfish (Holacanthus clarionensis), European mudminnow (Umbra krameri), spiny seahorse (Hippocampus histrix), Amur stickleback (Pungitius sinensis)

Near Threatened
Blue-eyed pleco (Panaque cochliodon), chevron butterflyfish (Chaetodon trifascialis), reedfish (Erpetoichthys calabaricus), least rasbora (Boraras urophthalmoides)

I think pirranhas would be a great addition as they are commonly found in zoos, are a bit more interesting than a lot of other fish, etc. (particularly if there is some sort of Amazon, South America, and/or "jungle"-centered DLC pack).

Remember the fish would have to be static, with only slight animations

Some fish that like to spend lots of time at the same spot;
  • Stingrays
  • Bamboo shark
  • Flounder, plaice, sole and other flatfish
  • Pleco
  • Seahorses and sea dragons
  • Stonefish and scorpionfish
  • Moray eels

I think that it'd be okay to also have certain types of schooling fish and just have them doing their little hover-swim. It'd be more animation that typical but it'd still be less than them free roaming the tank.

I also don't think it'd be overly difficult for them to have a few different swim loops they have a chance to spawn doing either though.

I feel like I'm in the minority here, but for those smaller animals I'm okay with them being fairly limited in movement. It would just be nice to be able to say "Hey, we have [insert type of animal here]" for some of these "filler" species.

i would like fishes to have like 2-3 different tracking lines coming from 2 points -one end of aquarium and second end of aquarium, they wouldnt all move the same, but still would have quite limited move, most fishes move all the time(excluding obviously moray eels and few other examples)
