I'm not sure if it will help, but you should try solo mode.
Just had the same issue myself over in Wyrd.... That and the comets seemingly passing through the planet....

I think we can expect a few teething problems whilst the servers are under extreme load... i don't think i've seen this many CMDR friends online at the same time in a long long while, including many i've not seen in weeks, some months even...
That comet might have been me...
I went through the planet before finally coming out of glide, the after flying through the inside of the planet (130 km) towards the base I blew up on hitting the surface, 5.6m gone rebuy on my FDL and restarted 144ly away...
I cannot exit glide without if either crashing or doing nothing, unplayable for me, they seem aware of this issue, but I'm not holding my breath for a small, quick fix anytime soon... Waited over 12 hours for an unplayable expansion and lost 5.6m in the process, not a happy Cmdr.
