Exo Profits?

Recently picked up Odyssey and I've been out there scanning plant life. What determines the value of the samples you collect?

I understand first-log, but what about the base value? Is this pre-set and each variant has a set base? Or are there other factors in play?

This is one page from an expedition I did last night. What makes the first entry worth so much? Is all stratum tectonicas worth the same base? Is Lime variant especially valuable? What factors are in play here?

Hi there! First, a bit of self-promotion: marx's guide to exobiology has the answers. But your questions are short enough to answer them here, so here goes: only the species matters, and whether you were the first to sell(!) the sample from that given body. So, the colour variant doesn't matter, nor does anything else. All Stratum Tectonicas have the same base payout, and the first logging bonus is the same across everything.

Stratum Tectonicas is notable for having an uncommonly high sale-to-rarity value. After the rebalance and exorbitant buff, the guiding principle seems to be that the more rare species are the ones that offer more credits, except ST: for some reason, FD kept that one as it is. Maybe so as not to break earlier farming methods?
