Exobiology Payouts

Buffed isn't the word!!

I'd held back about 6 pages (systems) worth of scan data. Managed to download and update the launcher and the game and got in - who's as lucky as me.

Went to sell the data. Base payments seem to have been buffed by something like 10 or 20 times (not 10 or 20 percent) and everything now is in the multiple millions of credits. Rewards for first discovery are staggering, many times the value of the base discovery. I went from Ecologist to Elite and am just a hair away from Elite I and I sold just six systems worth of data, and typically a system is just one planet for me. (I know I should have logged down the actual figures, sorry, but I got well over 200 million for those systems. I think that was the total including first discoveries, but maybe it wasn't, maybe that was just the base...)

I presume they'll want to adjust it but who knows.

Yes, they've gone up considerably.
I've been holding back from my trip a few days ago.

Well, I have no problems with that... ;)

Just went and found a bacterium to scan... The humble Cerbrus, previously 121,300 credits...

Nice bump I would say

And since all my scans are on previously undiscovered bodies I'm going to do very nicely with the bonus!

I think I can retire now.

Well yeah. Such is life.

To be honest, I got no sense of achievement hitting Elite like that. I'm not sure where or how they come up with these numbers... If they'd left the base payments or perhaps doubled them but kept the almost four time reward for first discovery then that would encourage people who wanted the rank to go out and actually find them... You know, by exploring. :p 🤷‍♂️

When cranking up the payouts they should also have cranked up the ranking requirements, in my opinion.

Went to check out that Maelstorm, paid millions for human AX weapons and brought my carrier nearer to the 'Thargoid zone', as you can see by the pics, i got yanked and obliterated before i could see anything lol couldn't be arsed getting mangled constantly. Might do some bio stuff considering it pays well now! :D

Well yes because going from Ecologist to Elite (nearly Elite 1) is (like all ranks) an increase equivalent to all you've done before as in each rank increase is equivalent of all ranks up to that point. In the case of Ecologist to Elite that was two ranks.

It's just balance of effort for reward, but then that's never been a strong point in the game...

It's way to easy now. I had Cr92m in old data including first find bonuses all saved up and ready to go. Came out at Cr5.7bn - although bizarrely my balance grew by just Cr2.3bn. Went from Elite to Elite V in one go. That data took me about two weeks or so to gather. Compared to seven months to get to Elite.....nahh it's to easy now. Everyone will be Elite V by March.

Base value of ExoB data for Update 14 is ~30.7 times higher than Pre-14, first finder is 4x the base value, rather than 1x base value.

1st find is now worth nearly 77x more in Update 14.

It all just feels that it has this extra 0 that should not be there, in my opinion. Buffing *5 or even *10, but not by this much. Anyway, even if so big, credits ain't the issue. But ranks are completely broken this way. What if you got 2 planets with 8+ biosigns? Return to the carrier to be promoted and then be back for 2nd planet? I just hope they fix ranks somehow, so we ain't all Elite V in a week this way...

Handed in several weeks of exobio data, about 400 data items and earned 5,5 billion credits. Which brought me instantly from Elite to Elite 5. A lot of the data was first discoveries.

I think FDev went into the right direction. When compared with other activities the amount of money you could earn per hour with exobiology was very low. I also like the 5 times bonus for first discoveries. Finding new planets with exobiology is a lot more time consuming than doing an exobio Road of Riches from Spansh. The bonus is also good to encourage exploration.

The ranking levels should be adjusted, though.

American dream, from zero to hero, from the least to the most profitable activity. 83M for a SINGLE scan. Anaconda in 10 minutes, if you have a bit of luck.

I don't get it. Really. It's too absurd for my little brain...
