Expansion state distance/location?

I am very new and trying to figure something out. Robigo (CDE Corp) is currently experiencing an expansion. Not knowing what that mean exactly I googled it. The info I gathered stated that there should be a place with about 50ly or less that they are trying to expand into and I can go there and do missions to help them. So I looked around and can’t find a single system within 50ly that even has any population in it. I have looked all over and can’t find anyplace they could even expand. Can it be further then 50ly? Has anyone found this place? Thanks in advance for any advice find this.

Expansions means the faction is trying to expand, but expansion can fail. IIRC, if there are no suitable systems in range expansion will fail and faction go into investment state, boosting its resources for another expansion cycle in a 70ly range. If there are no suitable systems even within 70ly, I don't know what will happen

not yet. expansion location will be named, when expansion has happened, not during expansion.

@OP as of patch 2.1.: you can help CDE to expand by running missions for them from robigo. because there is no system in 20(!) ly range, this expansion will fail. after a failed expansion, CDE will get into investement state. you can help CDE by selling exploration data at robigo. after a successfull investement, they will get into expansion again. this time, they will expand above 20 ly ... maximum expansion range i have seen in the "wild" was 44,75 ly. it will be most interesting to see, whether CDE can beat that by expanding to Ceos (52 ly).

The system state will tell you that they are expanding. But station news should tell you whether they've expanded. (iirc, anyway...)

This page is great. Been reading through it at work. While I started focused on making money. Now that I have made a small fortune learning how much more the game offers is exciting.

with the credits being paid out on robigo missions i amazed they can even afford toilet paper

i alone took 10`s of millions in one night.

would be great if the state of the area could be more visible,like shipyards or the like appearing.
you would know things are on the up if more structures were being built
