Expansion suggestion with exploration and side missions.

Just wondering if it would be possible that exploration can yield some ancient but advanced technology planted around the universe like Easter eggs that will enable a CMDR to enhance their modules somewhat similar to what Guardian content is but discovered through random exploration?

It could be discovered and spawned through wreckage, data points or planetary anomalies that will entice further investigation by random explorers.

I am not talking about finding extra weapon enhancements for aggressive CMDRs and looking out more for chilled out CMDRs who want to escape combat as there seems to be a player base that are not into combat but will soon need to play Dangerous open mode.

As a suggestion of possible discoveries and crafting : FSD superboosters (super high wake with insta-charge instead of combat logging), rapid repair limpets, super boost thrusters ( for a quick boost away from mass lock), super lightweight alloys for hulls and other modules (results in improved mass formula), night-vision canopy (for being able to see at the dark side of planets better), automatic countermeasures ( as a defense), stealth technology for the SRV (so that it will make high security base missions more tempting), etc.

It would be a great expansion to the game, well part of a planned expansion that would somehow magically include a lore/story based side missions with a progression that doesn't rely on procedural randomness.

If anyone wants to hire a creative game director then my hand is up. hahahaha. Joking only , I have no IT experience and only too many unproductive hours of ED gaming. :S

Further reading:

1/ FSD superboosters (super high wake with insta-charge instead of combat logging)

This could be a one time or limited use boost that results in escape but will cause up to 75% hull damage when used. I would certainly carry it just in case.

2/ Rapid repair limpets.

Probably not require but would be nice. I haven't had to use repair modules yet.

3/ Super boost Thrusters.

As means to escape mass lock from a big elite pirate or enemy. Possibly applied as a limited use booster.

4/ Super lightweight alloys.

This would be a good benefit for explorers and traders as the jump range benefit is going to be vastly improved but at the cost of vulnerability to kinetic damage. Meaning that a trader may have to opt to using better shields.

5/ Night vision canopy or radar.

I think my graphics card could render monochrome a lot easier when it comes to dark side of planets and bases but I think it would just look cool. I like space to have really dark shadows when the lighting isn't there.

6/ Automatic countermeasures.

Just some form of automatic deployment module against torpedoes and lasers without having to press a button. The penalty is it will probably deplete chaff in combat.

7/ Stealth for the SRV.

I really would like to be able to do high security base mission with stealth as a tactic. Probably a timer or increased fuel usage could balance it and make it fun. Added with no headlight and night-vision and it would be an expansion worth the effort. Next level Elite Dangerous gaming.

As for the story missions...........hmmmmm.

Oh, can I change my font and be special snowflake too?

So, anyway, who is leaving this ship stuff lying around? If it's humans, that doesn't seem right, they're greedy. They would sell it. If it's aliens, WHY does it work with human ships?

I change the font to make it easier to read. No need to be rude just becausee you are hiding behind a keyboard.

Easter eggs scattered around the verse is a means to give CMDRs some form of motivation to land on planets and get more out of exploration instead of just scanning. Explorer ships aren't the best for combat or defense. New CMDRs would really do well if they find bonuses as such when exploring.

Cool idea and surely not too difficult to continue doing.
It truth, haven't ED been doing a lthis already to some extent ... albeit at a fairly high level. (Guardian ruins, meta alloys etc)

Certainly more of this type of stuff is to be welcomed to keep exploration fresh and it's with some interest I await chapter 4.

The risk here though, is that trival nonsense 'easter eggs' stuff can easily become the normal and quickly uninteresting ...
