I always thought that the Nav beacons would offer some advantage during play and be made more integral to expanding the bubble but also to exploration in general.
That explorers would be able to synthesize/3d print them in the black (creating a need to mine local planets in the SRV).
Jumping to a star without a NAV beacon would incur a high probability of a "mis-jump" where player could end up between stars or even in a different but nearby system. Thus increasing the difficulty of exploring alone and far from the bubble of humanity, particularly longer jumps would suffer higher probabilities of failure; so a 3 LY jump would not be likely to fail but a 70 LY jump would be very likely not to work on the first attempt without presence of a NAV Beacon.
Nav Beacons could serve as a form of "first discovered by" that could include the commander name, ship type and date the beacon was placed.
Not sure how difficult the coding would be, nor how to make this dynamic and limit it to one beacon per system. But I like the thought of it.
