Instead of having just expansions for countries or biomes, we could have some that concentrate on endangered animals. One of my favorite ways to play the game is to concentrate on breeding programs for endangered species. It would be nice to have more in game. Both for the challenge and to raise awareness for those species.
Th IUCN's list of Animalia Extinct in the Wild has 38 animals. I would love to see all of those 38 make it into game. But even if some of them did... There are some duplicates; there is a single species of snails that has 4 subspecies on that page. Most are small exhibit or aquarium creatures, so wouldn't be too hard to do all 38, compared to full size habitat animals. Plus; I don't like using the exhibits because they're too hard to manage all the offspring. Having an incentive to have them and breed endangered animals would expand my use for them.
3,178 Critically Endangered. 4,942 Endangered. Lots of choice for some less popular / well known animals to add some spice to our games.
I would also like to see some of the recently extinct animals. Not dinos, (although I could have fun with those too. Lol) but ones that is reasonable that they were bred back, cloned, hybrids, etc. Such as the white rhinos. There is a female left, and sperm from the last male. They're experimenting with having other rhinos be surrogates or inseminating the female white rhino with black rhino sperm. It could be plausible that with a slight bit of artistic license they could be displayed in a zoo breeding program. I'm sure there are many other species that could be reasonably displayed with the same sort of backstory.
