Experimental effect for gimballed weapons

Get yourself a pair of G1 Plasma Slug Rails. 3.6km is plenty of range and practically infinite ammo for practice.

Not always true. When the effect was new, i engineered an imperial hammer with plasma slug rails for my Imperial Courier. Turned out that this weapon drained my fuel like crazy. I actually had less shots than before.

Of course, that's a very specific combination. On any ship with big enough fuel tanks plasma slug is great, but i just thought i'd point out that there are setups where it actually reduces your number of shots.

Not always true . . . imperial hammer with plasma slug rails for my Imperial Courier.

So it was a different story when you used the special triple shot variant on a ship with a small fuel tank? Intriguing.

Friendly snark aside, it would be niced if Plasma Slug fuel consumption rate was modified for the Hammer. Given the shots are each much weaker, you would think they'd take less fuel...

Gimbals should default to pointing forward when they lose lock. This flailing around like the robot's arms in Lost in Space is ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous when your weapons aren't even pointing anywhere near chaff and they're still waving around like windmills just because you flicked past a chaffing ship when cycling targets.

THIS!

3305 technology should be able to sense chaff and switch to fixed mode until the sky is clear. That or give us a gimble override button.
De-targeting and re-targeting is a pain in the chaff.

To be fair, Gimballed weapons work so well against targets without Chaff that they also need some weakness to counter balance that. Sure, they do less damage which is a nice general counter, however, they're hopeless when chaff is dropped unless you un-lock the target. It would be really nice to be able to enter a "forward fire" mode so we can retain target lock - and all the target stats that gives us, while still forcing us to aim manually.

I would 100% support better sensors being better at combatting chaff / reacquiring the target more quickly. Perhaps with additional Engineering options to improve this further.

Scoob.
