Ships Explain me Engineer progression

Hello

please I am a bit confused could you fellow cmdrs eplain me how progression and stats works?

For example I went to Dweller and upgraded my power distributor to grade 1 , then to grade 2 what I see is that anytime I apply an upgrade and I am still in the same grade the stats on the module do not change ( it doeas the litle animation thing on the circle ) only the reputation goes higher until I reach the next grade.

If this is the case I am actualy wasting material to raise reputation that I could do with selling stuff to Engineer.

Am I wrong or am I wrong?

Thanks

Yes there are other ways to raise reputation with engineers, I've never worried about it though, specially for the lower levels because it takes so few mats and they are easy to get, but selling exploration data etc can raise rep.

Engineer a module up repeatedly at the current level making the circle go 'round. Once the next level is unlocked just go directly to that level. A level doesn't need to be fully completed to go to the next level. Fully engineering a level when the next level is available is a waste.

If you need to... a good way to level an engineer up to level 5 is to engineer multiple modules. Get another module that you think you might use on another ship and engineer it up a bit too. Just to get the engineer's level up to 5. Not always necessary, just sometimes.

Edit - Additional Tip - I might be corrected on this, but I believe if you engineer an item using a pinned blueprint you will not get the benefit of increasing the associated engineer's level.

Some stats do, some stats don't.

Whenever you reach a new grade, the negative stats (increased mass, power draw etc) apply immediately, and then do not change throughout that grade. The positive stats still go up, as does your reputation with that Engineer (if you're at the Engineer's base: remote engineering doesn't count).

In addition, the interface can be a bit confusing for the positive numbers - the current performance and the maximum possible performance at this grade are shown the opposite way round to what many people expect.
