Explanation about rings

Why we are unable to see the rings of a gas giant when we re not in super-cruise ? I can see the rings of Saturn with my telescope , so why not in normal space in ED?

You can. You may have been looking at them from the edge of the disc which is extremely thin. Get a little off the axis and they show up well enough. Not all rings are oriented the same way relative to the plane of the other planets, either.

Strange... Because rings are a source for mining, indeed you see them in normal space.
May be it depends, how close you are to the planet.

Often moons and starports are orbiting on the same plane as the ring and when you are looking at the gas giant, you will only see the edge, which may be only a pixel wide or completely invisible.

Getting close to the gas giant .... here is one with the ship orientated to view the rings perpendicular to their axis (there is even an off-axis moon which is unusual):

A different gas giant, about the same distance as before, but viewed end on to the rings. So if you were a long way away, you would not see them.
