Exploding ships...anyone else seeing this?

I have lost two ships this week to landing pad explosions..a Clipper and a Cutter. (bug reports filed, CS notified of tonight's mishap)

The Clipper went wonky when I tried to park, and I started getting thrown around the station...

The Cutter, just exploded...gear down, approaching the pad, under 35 m/s...player journal not much help, just says 'Died'!

(These are new ships for me...and they do handle very differently, but....I was not doing anything quickly...I was near the pad!)

(Also really wanted to help with the Private Alliance CG...made it to 50%, will fight back...but will definitely be a lot harder!)

Just wanted to warn folks there might be issues...and to please file a bug report if you have had problems with landing ships exploding.

Was also in Private..so no shenanigans...although there were some earlier the night....which were fair play!

Did you check your cmdr log? For the brief time I had a clipper, it would sometimes get snagged on the side lampost out of view then veer off to the side where sometimes the clipper or even cutter nacelle could get stuck in some station structure outside of the landing pad then you have 15s before the station starts blasting the ship. Sometimes the landing gear gets stuck on those "ramps". Also, if you're in open, sometimes it's a suicidewinder or something that rammed you to get wanted and soon shot after by the station internal seemingly gW lasers. Bumping into a skimmer at a base also drops shields immediately and quick wrecking by the base lasers. After a while you can kind of get used to flying the imperial ships to approach fly them to avoid most of those mishap situations routinely.

Did you ask permission to dock?

[I've forgotten a couple of times...]

Yeah....You can see, 'Docking Granted" this wasn't because someone fired on me...or crashed into me...I was in Private Group and there were no empty boxes on the radar

On the Clipper, I could see catching a lampost...but the reaction of spinning me out...just doesn't make sense. It behaved like a pinball...definitely weird.

Here's the landing sequence from the journal...

{ "timestamp":"2018-04-06T03:55:21Z", "event":"DockingGranted", "LandingPad":10, "MarketID":3227843840, "StationName":"Barjavel Station", "StationType":"Coriolis" }{ "timestamp":"2018-04-06T03:56:31Z", "event":"Music", "MusicTrack":"Starport" }{ "timestamp":"2018-04-06T03:56:49Z", "event":"Died" }

Like I said...I'm new to the larger Empire ships...and I understand that the flight dynamics are very different...but I would expect more from the journal as to what happened....I mean, I know I died...but what do I do to 'not die' in these ships again? LOL!

This happens to me when my Internet goes into burst connection mode.

After weeks of getting used to fully loaded Cutter's inertia while trying to pass the slot, I finally gave up and for the first time ever in this game installed the DC.

Hmm maybe you were loitering and you didn't notice? That happened to me when I first got the cutter, she was so big I was half in the other pad

The only time I've been bounced around the docking area is when I've been spawned inside another ship on the landing pad. Perhaps you've encountered a new version of the occupied landing pad bug but one where the occupying ship is not visible. It would somewhat explain the bouncing around and possibly exploding due to the collision damage.

Were you in a wing and nav-locked to someone else at the time?

This.

There is a bug with wings where it seems like rotational correction is turned off, and even touching the pad correctly doesn't land you. Hilariously, it happened to the Devs on a live stream and they had no idea what was going on.

Nope, flying solo....<shrug>

Time between landing approval and death was roughly 1 minute....
