Ha! Well, I'll be sticking to my 'conda for going out into the back of beyond - it's just got everything in terms of utility for being self-reliant, and the Orca just can't compete in that arena, principally because of the restricted slots.
However, you are spot-on if you want explorer-lite; for routes that have a sprinkling of stops along the way for repair/restock/re-fit, the Orca is possibly the sweetest-handling ship in the game (yeah alright, that's the DBX, second-sweetest-handling, then!).
I built myself one for the Dove Enigma expedition and it was perfect for that - I sacrificed some additional mass for the biggest thrusters I could stuff on there, a bigger pdu so I could boost a lot, and bigger powerplant to run those, and the shield setup only tips a hat to lightweight.
It's not as light as I could have gone, but the thing goes so fast! just click *BING* punch! and you're immediately doing 600m/s and climbing! - perfect for canyon running, and lands in hi-g with no ruffled feathers. It's a joy to fly despite sub-optimal jump range and utility. (Oh, yeah, and worried about hair-raising out-of-control lurches into stations to avoid being scanned when you have illegal stuffs? This thing will cruise in, off-boost, with the throttle in the blue, giving you optimal control, and you'll still be going faster than they can scan you! Smuggler's dream!)
The link I'm about to post has SRV bay, which I used on the way out at all the waypoint meet-ups.
For the homeward trip I swapped it for an AFMU which saved 10t over the SRV bay, giving me extra jump range, and also meant I could repeatedly use neutron boosts - and yes I know this thread is about anacondas, but I have posted two fitouts for those earlier in the thread, so I feel I can justify a brief ramble off-topic!

PS, I've done 'new engineering' on the thrusters and FSD since i got back from the Dove Enigma expedition, so the boost and jump stats aren't exactly what I had then. But they are what I've got on it now!
