Newcomer / Intro Exploration advice

Hey all and thanks for taking the time to read. Just a brief question. While out exploring (1.6k ly out from SOL) I've noticed a few systems with planet and then a line with a X on the end a bit like this X------------ in system view but not sure what it means?

Im hoping its something nice like a Black Hole but prolly something less interesting :)

When the line ends in a star (or other object) then that's what they are orbiting, when it ends in an X then it is to denote that they are orbiting more than one object.

In this example (my current system, not the best example), all those little coloured marbles orbit both the K class star and the huge beetroot.

I believe that means it's orbiting around the barycenter (center of a system of masses) of multiple stars or other celestial bodies.

Ah thank you. Learn something new everyday. The above picture posted looks pretty much exactly what I've seen. Out of interest, what will a Black hole look like on the map system map or galaxy map if its visible that is?

Like these badboys:

Black circles on a mostly back background.

If you get the chance, go to HIP 63835, it's a really funky system.

Wow thanks for the tip. Ill definately go there. I've seen videos of I think Cmdr Nutter flying around one but never seen a system view of a Black Hole but now know what to look for so thanks again. Ill prolly get sucked into it :)
