Exploration changes for 2018 per the Frontier Expo

But surely you cant compare ED to some Ponzi scam...? :D

And that was a joke, i love SC, just wrote that behalf of SC haters.. ;)

I'm still holding out hope for a mid-range exploration ship (high FSD class to mass ratio). I would very much like to have an explorer with a Lakon cockpit, more internals than the AspX, but more maneuverable than the Anaconda, while retaining a similar jump range. I'd be in heaven. :)

Totally off topic, but I am exploring in a type 6 (44ly max range) and it seems to meet most of those requirements (and it also has the highest fuel scoop size / fuel per jump FSD), making refueling a breeze. Very maneuverable, just doesn't have the +50 ranges... Plus it looks great:

Another T6 explorer here, I can only manage 29.95ly...can't quite manage to get that last .5 to make it 30, but I think a T6 is one of the best explorer ships out there. It may not have the jump range of others, but yes it can do it all and still look good.....looking at you ASPX!

Step 1 Break the stellar forge ie. beige.

Step 2 Ignore problem for atleast a year.

Step 3 Announce fix for problem, disguised as a update.

Two steps foward, then five steps back. This is why we have no depth in content for ED.
They are fixing stuff that shouldn't be broken in the first place(bet if it was a $ exploit, it would be already fixed).

And people want atmospheric landings and space legs?? I just cant see FD ever having enough skill or experience to pull off anything more then what we have now.
For the future my guess is that you will see QOL changes and thats it.
This is my very blunt, honest assessment of what the future holds for us explorers.
Even the list of improvements is very underwhelming. New audio and fog... pfft.

This Thursday, 11-9-17, Ed Lewis will be doing a livestream with Anthony Ross, one of the devs who work with the Stellar Forge at Frontier. Hopefully we not only get some really good discussion and information, but also maybe some more sneak peaks of the beige cure coming in Q1 2018. Maybe even a few views from the surface with the Q1 version, now in technicolor?

I'm keeping my expectations low, I think they will be rather tight-lipped about what's to come - it will be rather a generic -albeit quite interesting- discussion about the structure and existing details of the stellar forge.

They can't afford to keep being tight lipped about what changes they're planning. This Q4 2018 updated should have been out Q4 2016. I'm not saying they should do what they do over on the SC camp, make hour long videos on how they design lips, but, they need to do something.

I think Elite has grown so big, that each additional layer requires more and more effort to implement...
Having said that, I agree it would be great if we'd know more about the roadmap. Also, I really-really hope, that Q1 won't mean end of March.

You and me both, however my suspicion is that it means exactly that. For the 2.4 release, they said Q3 2017, and that ended up being late of September. I haven't paid attention to their release schedule prior to that, so I don't know if this is typical or not for FDev.
