Exploration: could the FSS DSS be combined with the turret gunner view?

Could this feature be repurposed for exploration in SC / realspace? It means you could have limited controls and HUD for people sneaking up on you (and that you can still fly), and a possible multicrew angle to it with one person flying while the other does the scanning (and maybe pop some sort of marker into the pilots hud for interesting things). When you find something you can launch probes from the turret view too.

I use the DSS sparingly, but I don't use telepresence and the gunner view at all.

So I'd probably just not use the DSS at all then. I guess that'd save me a module slot.

Yes.
The FSS and DSS just show the same objects in the same positions as seen in space, just with a different rendering.

The real question is why they aren’t already available as cockpit views in Analysis Mode.
After all they are analytical tools.

The only thing needed would be a sniper style scope to deal with the FSS zoom.

I suspect you're too late with this suggestion: I'm convinced that the FSS and DSS are already repurposed multicrew turret code. Remember how in the first version of the 3.3 beta the DSS needed multicrew gunner controls bound to work properly?

My guess is the devs had to cobble together something at short notice when the 2018 paid expansion - and the new code that it would have brought to 3.3 - was scrapped, and they used the multicrew turret code to save time.
