Exploration data effects on expansions

My group has been doing some testing and I will put below what we think but I wanted to ask everyone here if they know the current effects of selling exploration data to an expanding system with the new BGS system? I know it used to increase starting influence in the next system but from our testing that doesn't happen anymore.

Based on what my group has done so far, we currently think that selling exploration data during expansions may actually make the expansion happen a little bit quicker, not a lot quicker but maybe around 2 days quicker, this is based on tests we've done on 3-4 systems so far. This part I'm not sure about but one of my members believes it's now based on how many pages of exploration data you sell and that it's no longer transaction based?

One of the updates last year was supposed to relieve the tedium of selling system by system so selling a page gives the same number of transactions.

AFIK - its still that way since the patch.

it should correctly count page sells the same as if you sold the systems individually.

As for how it does anything... it only should boost the influence for the faction controlling the station you sell it at.

Any increase in starting influence in a new system you expand to should only occur because you caused some kind of negative influence loss in that system before expanding - like shooting up Pirate Lords or murdering faction ships to reduce the influence of other factions, allowing your faction to take a larger bit when you enter. So long as you don't drop off stuff, or do positive actions in that system it creates a kind of vacum effect to where the newly expanding faction into the system will chew up a bit more real estate on the first step.

Likewise you can minimize the amount by working for other factions, so the newcomer has less room.

The last couple days have been buggy as heck for most of us, with frozen influence states, so the tricks are kind of on hiatus till they fix this.

Thanks for all that, it actually makes a lot of sense, especially working for other factions to increase our starting influence,, I don't know why that didn't occur to me to try out.
