Exploration Data- Federation Ranking

Ok, I have around 64M of exploration data, I am presently a LT in the Federation with a 40% ranking. I want to rank up with the Federation to be able to get to the corvette.

Question: If I sell all of my Exploration Data to one Federation station will that increase both my Federal Influence and ranking?

Your allied status with the federation is separate to the rank you have. To advance the rank you need to do missions for federation factions. The only way selling exploration data can help you is getting allied status with the controlling faction which means better missions. But that's just one faction out of many in one system. If you care for doing it, you can sell up to 5 or 6 million of data to various stations controlled by a federation faction. This will get you allied with them which means better missions but no direct effect on the rank. Also being allied with fed factions in big systems means you can get the rank progression missions, as these are gated behind friendly or allied status with the factions that offer them.
