Exploration Data lost after 1.3

2 weeks ago i had to quit play Elite due to internet provider problems, and i have left my ship out there 8000ly from sol stuffed with exploration data.
2 days ago i had my internet connection restored, i saw powerplay was implemented, downloaded it, and could log my char no problem where i have left him.
I rushed to a station to see if my data was still ok, and indeed i had a lot of data to sell and i made as many credits as expected.

BUT, since i note down every interesting discovery, i went to see them, AND MANY systems i noted shows as unexplored to me.
One could be an error from my side in noting down the name, but they are several and i couldn't possibly made errors in noting dozens of systems.

One i loved had an Earth Like with a terraformable rocky moon orbiting it, and several teraformable high metals and water worlds, but now shows unexplored to me

Every system that got deleted had something peculiar, so my guessing is that they changed them with 1.3 and they were not saved server side since i hadn't sold data yet.

To be frank vast majority of first discoveries got rightly accreditated, but in about 12 cases i get a completly unexplored tag. The credits i made was what expected, so this deleting seems to be a minor issue, but i just wanted to warn explorers that are out there from before 1.3

I can add something to this I think. I've been to Sag.A three times now. Twice before PP and once after on my current trip.

When I got to Sag.A, both it and Source 2 were showing as completely unknown to me, so I had to scan them again. I also had the feeling my number of scanned systems dropped when 1.3 hit as well, but I can't say for definite as I don't actively record the number of systems I go through.

Did you ticket it?

I'll check as well, since I set off before 1.3 and sold just now.

edit: The 12 systems I noted were recorded correctly.

I have recorded 150 systems and can confirm that 11 are gone and show "unexplored" to me. Of 10 Earth Likes discovered, 2 got deleted. Both had moons.
I won't ticket, they cannot give you back lost exploration data, they could give you some money, but i don't want to bother them for about 1 million loss.
I can live with it and make new discoveries, next journey will be more awesome (and maybe i'll rush back if there's an incoming patch).

Can confirm - I got back yesterday. About 2000 systems scanned pre 1.3 and a further 1500 post 1.3. No data loss as far as I could see comparing my EDDisc data and the UC sell page.

I don't think this is just an issue with 1.3.. its been with us since gamma. I have a video on youtube of me surveying VY Canis Majoris on November 23rd last year, yet it always remained unexplored to me for months afterwards and I had to go back out there recently to re-scan it... and of course I've long lost the first discovered tag to another player because of this lingering bug. Its annoying and I've had tickets in since January about other systems I've scanned but say otherwise, all tickets that go unanswered.

I honestly don't think the cartography webserver can adequately log the sheer amount of data that's getting added to it every minute of every day, so we get blips that effect us all at some point. Its always been buggy.

*speculation mode*
The original exploration mechanic had players having to create hyperspace routes using probes. That mechanic alone would have slowed down the amount of systems players could scan per hour, and I'm speculating that the technology FD put in place was more geared toward gathering data at a far slower pace. The fact that they decided to dump the original travel mechanic late in the day in favor of fast travel / travel anywhere, could be a reason why the webserver can't cope?

I found that the large majority of my data is accounted for, but there are individual systems where I have first discovered attribution for SOME of the bodies but not ALL of them.
The annoying thing was that the system shows as discovered, but planets 2,3,4 and 7 weren't discovered and I made a point of 100% DSS scanning the whole system.
Planet 7 was an Earth-like world.

I put in a ticket asking for my correct attribution and bonus credits, and got a reply back tonight saying that they "don't have the means to manipulate this [sic] tags".

The technical capability would exist to do it, but probably no specific tool. As it does appear widespread, hopefully if not addressed before, it'll be fixed when exploration gets some real love in the game.

I've noted before that if you get a time out or crash when selling data that you lose first discovered tags. As a result, since then I've looked through my data and sold the higher earning systems one at a time, only using the sell page option when left with lower value ones. Even then, it used to be that about 1 or 2% of exploration credits went missing when comparing the increase in exploration credits to my actual bank balance. I'm hoping that with the recent optimisations the latter at least has been fixed, but if there are systems I particularly want first discovered credit for then I intend to continue to look for them in the data and sell them individually.

I'm currently out on my 2nd trip. As I was approaching the area where I turned back from my first trip, I specifically looked for a system that I had noted "Possible Earth-like at second star" in my hand-written notes.... but when I pulled up this system on the galaxy map, it showed as completely unexplored, which cannot be the case.

I've also encountered a handful of systems where the main star has no CMDR tags, but the planets nearest to it are tagged. While it's entirely possible that a player did not complete the scan of the main star while visiting a system, I find it unlikely.

I have not been keeping track of my own discoveries and tags, but I just yesterday jumped into a system that had all but one high-metal content planets discovered. The non-discovered planet was pretty close to the star, same as the other discovered planets, so I wondered why someone would leave one planet undiscovered. This tag assignment bug might explain that.

I have been heading outwards for the past couple of months, and am still less than 2000 ly out, so I bet ED is at version 3.5 or something when I eventually get back (in a couple of years, it seems like..). Plenty of time for them to fix the bugs. :)

What happened? Did you have eg 3000 systems to sell and there were only 1900 in the list? Or are they just not showing up as reports in the CG totals? If the latter then it can take a while for it to get updated. If the former then definitely ticket it as it is a very serious bug.
