News Exploration data server upgrade

Hi guys,

Just a quick note to make you aware of regarding exploration data.

We are currently giving the exploration data servers an upgrade which will help with load and should improve performance also. However, this means there may be some discrepancies in the exploration data until the update is finished. This will be completed by tomorrow.

Does this have any effect on the navigation route plotting?

It's very slow to plot a course inside the galactic core, so will this server upgrade help with that?

I'd like to know this too. I have a few thousand scans I was going to sell once 1.4 goes live, but should I hold on to it until we get the all clear?

Yikes! Glad I saw this. I'm on the last 7,000ly of my trip back from Sag A* and was hoping to sell my data today so I can enjoy 1.4. Now I'll be waiting until I hear word that its safe to sell my data.

Does this mean I have to download a new version of the installer? When I click the icon to run the game I'm asked to download a new version of the installer. My anti virus identifies it as a virus and isolates it as w32/exploit.gen

you will need to get the new installer yes, and no it isn't a virus. I suggest you permit it in the AV app.

If you still have the downloaded launcher file from last time, try running it. I did, and it went through the normal installation routine, but it ended up as the latest version. I have now downloaded the game files.

Hi Frontier support. I just submitted 395,000,000,000 systems of exploration data, but my stats are showing only a few thousand. This must be due to a glitch in the server upgrade. Any chance you can compensate me for my loss - a cheque would be fine, thanks.

For many systems that I have discovered (both first and not first discovered) I cannot view the system map anymore. Is this part of the upgrade?

Same here, I logged out before the patch in a system I had finished exploring. Now when I logged in the system was unexplored. Does this mean that every system I've been to and explored is gone now??

Probably not, as it is thought to be client-side. Btw, have you read https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=151389 ?

Probably not. A different algorithm has to be devised / implemented that can find viable routes faster and compute them in parallel, rather than running in the main game loop.

That's what we would all like to know. I just returned from a long trip with the intent of selling to a newly created faction.

Yep, me too. Now I'm not sure whether to continue on to Sagittarius A or just head back to populated space. I could do with answers to the following questions:

1) What has happened to the exploration data that I have acquired up until now but haven't sold? Has this been lost as my current system was partially explored but now shows that its fully unexplored?
2) If I continue exploring now will any new data be amalgamated with the exploration data I previous acquired once the exploration servers have been upgraded?
3) What will happen if I explore and collect data for systems that now shows as unexplored, but I had previously explored? Will there be a data conflict once the exploration servers have been upgraded? (guess that's my software testing day job head on!)

At the moment this leaves me in Limbo as I don't have the answers that make me feel comfortable to continue playing until these data issues are resolved.
