Exploration data versus Squadron Points

Fellow explorers and squadron members.

I'm having difficulty working out how the exploration points are awarded to your squadron when you sell cartographic data.

It appears to be, either:

almost exactly half of the Credit worth of data, as reported on the initial selling page (not including further bonuses for first discovery that accrues during the sale) ... But not quite exactly half?, or;

Similar to, but not exactly equal to - (the total amount gained in sales minus the total bonus award) ... almost, but not exactly.

Does anyone know how this is supposed to work?
May have already been posted, but I'm sorry I can't find it.

It's likely to be related - as trade and combat are - to the amount of Elite ranking gained by the action.

There was an early change which doubled the number of credits paid out for systems, but kept their exploration rank value the same, which may be where the "half" comes from.

Interesting.

The fact that I'm WAAAY beyond Elite Exploration might be why my squadron points accrued are almost exactly half the credits earned from cartographic data...
