Exploration $ discovered v mapped question

I'm a bit confused about the credits and how they are awarded with these two bonuses.

For example, is it worth it for me to
(1) map something (that's not been mapped or discovered before) in a system that's already been discovered?
(2) map something (that's been discovered) in a system that's already been discovered?
(3) map something (that's been mapped)

For sake of ease, let's just say it's a terraformable HMC
EDIT: What % am I losing in these scenarios? This is what I'm really looking for.

Getting first discovered and first mapped tags with each net you a bonus on the base value of the body(50% for first discovered, not too sure about the mapping bonus) so can be worth it depending on the type of body in question; In most cases I would say a terrformable HMC is worth it since a higher base value = higher bonus. Personally I will map all undiscovered Ammonia worlds, ELW's and WW's. I will map most terraformable HMC's as well unless there is only one in the system then I might skip it. I will usually skip mapping anything that has already been mapped and move on. If I find one of the targets listed above that is discovered but not mapped I will usually map it myself. I like getting my name on thing ;) If I jump into a system that has already been fully discovered (all the bodies are immediately visible on the radar) then I will give it a quick scan for things I deem interesting and move on.

This also depends on your motivations as an explorer. Again, I like getting my name on things so usually skip other people's discoveries. If you are purely looking at it from a credits POV then I would probably map all HMC's, WW's, AW's and ELW's regardless if they have been mapped prior since the base value is still multiplied depending on the depth on scan completed and that will start to add up quickly. Look at that road to riches for example (I have not personally done it) it involves scanning and mapping ELW's around the bubble that have obviously already been found but you still net 1 bn+ credits for the route.

Edit: Just saw your edit, I guess my long winded answer was only about half of what you're looking for!

this is great! I also like to get my name on things... I just want to get max money from something I like doing as well =) Yeah... I'm trying to figure out that worth it/not worth it break point

thanks for the reply Yates, I've been using this on my other monitor for reference and it's the most helpful thing ever. However, the one combo it doesn't have is discovered + unmapped, and I'm running into this scenario very frequently when flying.

I find you run into this a lot when you are kind of far out from the bubble but not super far out and sticking to the galactic plane. You tend to find a lot of systems that were discovered before the changes to exploration (before mapping) so lots of discovery tags but not as many mapped tags. Also, with the FSS you will find systems that are fully discovered but only the high values mapped; that's how I leave most of my systems. I have only ever fully mapped systems that were relatively small with lots of high values. To avoid this completely just move off the plane of the galaxy and you should find lots of completely undiscovered systems. Then you don't even have to worry about it, put your name on everything if you want!

Talking credits again, During DW2 and using the method I mentioned (although there's a bit more to it that I didn't go into) I earned 3+ Billion credits in approx. 4500 jumps (estimate, no idea on the actual number. I'm not that organized); the vast majority were completely fresh systems.

Don't have the exact figure, but expect it to be somewhere equidistant in value between the first and second value given in the map.

So for example, in the case of a Terraformable Water World, I'd predict mapping a previously scanned but unmapped TFWW to net a bit over two million credits, give or take (where the totally virgin TFWW with all scans would earn a little over three million, and the previously scanned and mapped one gets about one million)

I guess in a lot of situations, you'd just map anyways for credits, but where it "makes-it breaks it" for me is probably HMC's. And there are quite a few. I kinda hope that mapping is weighed a lot more heavily than merely FD. Who knows? Maybe it's the other way around.
