I swear, getting places in ED is a nightmare. You can't easily get from A to B in some reasonable time, always something distracts me from my target.
After more than 2 years of playing I decided to go to Colonia. Somewhat. I did direct journey to Sag and back and had enough exploration for the time being. Few months ago I attempted to go to Colonia exclusively. Failed after 5k LYs. Now I'm again back in the black, heading toward Clonia-ish direction. My goal is to get there while exploring on the way.
It's almost 3 weeks as I'm travelling and I'm still 13k LYs away, not even half way. I see worlds discovered and explored by other CMDRs, which is weird as I can travel 5k LYs and see virgin ones. But as soon as I find, in the middle of nowhere, WW or heavens forbid, ELW - it has tag already. But then I change direction a bit, go above or below the plane and start to see undiscovered systems.
Say, how can I make many thousands of LYs when I get 3 systems in a row that contain WWs? Scanning it and mapping those WWs takes time. I plot a short 5k LYs route, about 107 jumps. After an hour I'm still 88 jumps ahead of me. I have found system with 5 WWs in it! Luckily 2 of them were 280k Ls away and I didn't have endurance to actually fly there. Scan alone will do.
Another distraction - Notable Stellar Phenomena. When I was flying through series of dull systems with handful of rocky bodies, just stars or single gas giant I then encounter NSP. Two in fact. Speaking of, I start to suspect they appear in pairs. So far I encountered 2 instances o f NSP and in both cases it were 2 POIs. So I have to go and see what's that.
Ok, no more dull systems, not paying attention to left panel, not reading if there's NSP... Oh look, Ammonia life on Gas giant. It's decaying green colored. With icy ring. Beautiful, need to take a picture..

Another hour drained, I made 500 LYs. How am I supposed to get to Colonia when there's so many interesting and valuable things out there? When I was starting this journey I was shyly thinking about Beagle Point. But seeing how much time it takes me to get to Colonia I expect BP I'll reach in the next decade.
