[Exploration] Do you even star wars? - Amazing find

Please start playing this before reading.

Entered a system, blast of the scan... 2 stars, some planets and one cought my attention. Terraformable desert planet with dark patches? At first i thought it might be an earth-like but turns out it was just HMC... But then, i got behind the planet and remembered... Wait, this system has 2 stars. It's on the edge of the galaxy. Could this be... Tatooine?

Nah, Tatooine is an arid planet with 1% surface water; this one is water rich.

That is the atmosphere... Contains 0.5% of water so it's water rich... There is no water on the surface.

Are you now ready to admit it and become a believer? :p

Pulling out the big guns I see.
Alright then, here is my argument, listen well young Padawan!

1. This planet has oceans! Tatooine does not. Clearly visible due to the brown/blue hues!

2. Tatooine has an orbital period of 304 days, this is 942.5 days.

3. Tatooine has a rotaional period of 23 hours, this is 1.2 days.

4. Tatooine has three moons, this has none.

5. Tatooine has a radius of 5232.5km, this is 5128km.

6. This is Tatooine:

OK so lets take this step by step...

1. Those are not oceans, but patches of dark ground where concentration of metals is very high. If they were oceans this would be classified earth-like or Water world. Anyone who has done some exploration knows that... So your major point is invalid.

2. and 3. are details. Mainly 3 is a minute difference.

4 I've got to give you this... No moons.

5. Another microscopic difference... I have discovered earth-likes that were over 9k km in radius and under 3km radius. 104.5km difference just doesn't cut it.

Bottom line this is the closest planet to tatooine from elite i managed to find. And if one day there is an opportunity for players to name systems and planets, guess what i am naming this system :)

... this is my confused face:

My points were in no particular order btw. :p

1. Ok, I'll admit I may have that wrong,
2. This is a very big detail; unless some catastrophic event occurred to knock it's orbital period out by 638.5 days, this is not Tatooine. Something would have had to knock the planet seriously out of alignment to hit that kind of orbit, and the planet would have either been distroyed or taken millions of years to reform (if that's at all possible), either way this would then have a major impact on the atmosphere (water would have likely been flash-boiled),
3. Minute, but present .. 23 <> 1.2.

5. My point here is that this planet is smaller than Tatooine and therefore cannot be Tatooine.

A major event would have had to occur for this to be Tatooine.

Side note: No breathable atmosphere, concentration of N2 is too high, O2 too low.

Side-side-note: Wait, are you saying this is Tatooine-like or IS Tatooine?

Well i was calling it Tatooine at first, but i'll settle for what i said in the previous post. It is the most similar planet to Tatooine in Elite i've seen so far. So i am sitisfied with myself ^^

don't you dare

two-suns-tatooine-star-wars.jpg The biggest argument against it being Tattoine is the fact that the two suns pictured are very different coloured stars, whereas the system you were in they were identical.

Not sure it works: the suns yo uare showing are different level on the horizon, it is possible the color change is due to the position, just like our sun changes color when getting closer to the horizon.

But yeah it is not Tattoine. Biggest argument: Disney would already have sued :p

When elite started development, Disney didn't own star wars yet... And since there is a station named George Lucas, selling Azure Milk I am willing to bet that somewhere in the galaxy all the memorable places from Star Wars are modelled... ^^

You forgot the "A long time ago" part. A long time ago maybe... A long time ago milky way was "far far away"... Now it's here. This is common knowledge man! ^_^

But you would have still been in the Milky Way so The Milky Way would not have been far far away long ago.
And besides, if the Star Wars Galaxy was far far away a long time ago, then I think the universe is still expanding* so in theory it would be even more far far away now.

* unless it is shrinking, can't remember, can't be south faced to find out either.

Nope, it WAS far far away, then universe expanded and now the galaxy (milky way) is at its present position... Where milky way is now, "a long time ago" there was nothing

LOL love the argument though I too thought that it was water in the OP's pics. Reps for both, OP nice twin sun pic there! :)
