You roughly know the value of a cargo run. And you know the running tally of bounties you have collected. But there is no way of knowing what your exploration is worth unless you dock at a station.
When you are in deep space many light years away from civilization it would be nice to know what the exploration data is worth so you can decide when to head back to populated space.
I do not see how this can be in any way an unfair advantage because if you had the time you could manually record this data ..but I don't want to have to do that when the game could do it for me.
