Exploration Easter Eggs Suggestion?

Would be nice if a few Easter eggs where hidden among in huge vastness of space. An rouge station 1,000ly from civilisation selling exclusive gear, Alien "UFO" type encounters.....Thargoids? A few more anomaly's of any kind would be great even (and in fact especially) if they are very very rare indeed.

In fact lets hope that "First Contact" with the Thargoids is a random player way out in the black managing to get a 5 second video clip of them before he dies with no other announcement they are coming.

Stable worm hole discoveries, perhaps witness a star being born.. or even a star in its last moments..

space mysteries i've posted about before leading to investigation (you discover long derelict ships, or distress beacons long left unanswered) I would love to be able to find things that i can return and sell, or even fix to add to my ship.

Totally agree that the Thargoids would be nice to be discovered in the outer reaches of the system would be nice, but lets not stop at thargoids, another race or two as well, perhaps even discover non-advanced races when planetery landings come and influence their evolution.

I would also very much love to see an 'exploration highlights' report when you hand in the data to show the items of most worthy note all summarised, eg. number of gas giants discovered, ring worlds, water worlds, black holes discovered.. all that kind of stuff. At the moment you hand in and the only real record you will have is anything you screenshotted. I'd love someone to write something like EliteOCR that would ocr the planet/star info and submit to the cartography record books too if its a record.. or to your own database if it is not a server record for discovery.

But yes, the odd mystery in the big black would be good. I remember picking up a stray cargo canister in the middle of nowhere, full of cute furry rapidly multiplying animals in the original Elite.
Let's just say I was glad that you could load old saved games back then...

God I have some vague memory of something like that, along with "pirates board your ship....they show no mercy" or something. That was a bit rough at the time lol.

You see, while on one hand, you might get your backside handed to you on a plate and lose a lot of discovery data... on the other hand you would have discovered something so much more of interest to the entire ED community as a whole.. and to get screenshots of this would be pretty much as good as it gets before an eventual full scale invasion Oh i do like to ask for such things, the thargoids among other races are overdue to return .. as are Trumbles

There is so much that could be done with this game to make it more interesting but it needs someone with the will to do it. It seems FD are content to sit on there laurels than develop interesting meaning full player interactions. I know they are limited by the mechanics of the game but they could employ someone to just develop the content. This FARM simulator is not enough. Maybe it needs a story mode, a beginning and an end, there is only so much money you can farm.

Thats a little unfair, this game is clearly a work in progress....which in itself isn't ideal I agree, but I suspect they have 100 idea's it's just physically implementing them thats going to take a lot of time.

I like your optimism arcanonn. It is the hope for stuff that could be put in the game that keeps me constantly playing, and especially exploring. At the moment its just the hope of finding nice planets and stars that keeps me out in the black, but ohhhh if explorers got some love with some proper discoverable content, that would make it so much better. I mentioned derelict ships, well wouldn't it be nice if you were able to examine the ships logs, find out what happened last.. a little trail of clues, perhaps even.. leading to the world they came from.. or were going to.. or to an area you otherwise would have missed had you not been led there. if they let you walk around your ship then to be able to walk around the derelict ship once you've brought its life support back online.... possibilities are all there.

FD could implement these as explorer missions too.. regularly.. eg give an approximate direction the ship was headed in, and hasn't been heard from in some months, need active explorers to mount an expedition to find said ship and recover information regarding its whereabouts and crew status. You never know? you might (with repair drones) be able to make their ship flyable again and allow them to return home giving you even bigger bonuses for the mission.
