exploration, first discovered/mapped bugged?

alright,

im just getting back to playing and i went exploring the past couple days, something i know well.

i found alot of new systems/bodies that where not discovered, and a few systems that had only the star discovered.

i mapped a bunch of planets, but not everything.

i went back to a base to turn in my findings and see how the pay was.

now, i know i found more than 1 system w/19 bodies in it and i have scanned more than 2 bodies that no one has seen before...

i even went back to a couple system i had bookmarked and they are still not showing any first discoveries and they are not showing any pilot names at all.

so, have any other pilots seen a bug with payout from exploring and first discoveries not working?

I don't play the multi player, just solo, so I'm not sure if that has any effect but I came across a system yesterday that had one landable planet that had not been mapped yet, so I mapped it and never saw it indicate I mapped it with my user name.

Hi CMDR sirpuma
You have to return to a star port and sell your exploration data to a Unversal Cartographics department, the first discovered is then noted with your name (IF you are the very first to return having tagged the body in question and got back FIRST with your data), you are also informed of your being the discoverer there and then and how much your bonus is.
As far as I can tell, when you are selling explo data you do NOT get notified of 'Mapped by' at the point of sale of your data.... it just appears with your name on the System Map details of the discovered/mapped system... but only if you WERE the first to map and get back to a station Carto Dept.

I've mapped a few systems that have given me first mapped and now it's not showing first discovery or mapped on them

THAT must be a bug..server-side for a guess. Check again another day/time as the servers are having major probs over the holiday period for sure.

heya, you do get notified for mapping first, its in the same pop up screen as first discovered systems. i provided a screenshot of it.

the problem is bigger than not just showing. i didnt even get the credit for many of the first mapped planets i found. i got credit for a total of 2 mapped planets :(

You should file a bugreport about the system(s) that you didn't get discovery credit for.

i will file a report .... but, its more than 50 system i explored so, im not sure i can name everywhere i went

heres some screenies ... the first discovered showing 19 planets found and 2 mapped, and then 2 system along my 50+ jump route that are still void of any name and showing more than 19 planets

I don't know yet with the new system just doing a big exploration run.
One rule I made First playing Elite Dangerous when doing exploration is
when getting near inhabited space - go into Solo mode, so you do not lose days or weeks or exploration data from NPCs or Griefers.
then after docking, or real near the station log out then go back to open play and dock.

OP: It may take a few days for each star to be updated with First discovered
I have bookmarked a few new systems on this trip so will have a look in a few days time.
Just Admring a class B Blue Star I 1st discovered last year
nice o7 off now happy days

Cheers CMDR 762s
I have never seen that screen with the mapped accolade included as well...cheers for posting. I have several Discovered AND Mapped .... but have NEVER seen 'you got mapped' in black and white (well Orange).... but have had it tagged as MAPPED in the system map.... must be the same bug OP highlights

Rep+1

I like your sig and tag.... we're nearly kindred calibre's... except you're ballistic tipped v.s my usual FMJ...lol

alright, so ... i did a bit of back tracking with our nice "visited stars" option in the map menu.

i shutdown the game and waited an hour or so and came back to it ....

i have noticed that i have alot more "first mapped" tags and "first discovered" tags than what was shown when handing in cartographic info.

so, i was thinking on what and how i turned in my cartographic data ...
and im seeing now that the bug is possibly in page 1 of the data i turned in.
i never got a congratulations pop up screen with page 1! the congratulations screenshot i posted above is from page 2.
the system took my data, gave me credits and then went to page 2 to be ready to sell.

so, i will hold off sending a report atm, and i will do another run and try and get some more useful info to report(maybe, even record it --- like i did with the anaconda taking damage when launching ;) )
ill keep track of $ and locations and tally what all i map and discover and compare it with the station when i turn it all in.

I'm not seeing this. Are you talking in the Galaxy map in the Navigation (left) menu? I see a "previous jumps" but it only shows the last 10 or so jumps.

The visited stars option in the galmap shows stars as blue if you've visited them, and red if not. I can't remember how far back it goes, 2.0 maybe?
The option is in the same place as where you filter for government type, state, economy, etc.

Doesn't the Codex log your systems now, may be useful.

The issus you describe excisted during beta. Many scanned systems had no discovery tags and new one never tagged up either.

I think generally this has been a very buggy patch and dropping just before the holidays was a pretty stupid idea.

Launch should be the start of December latest and at least there could be a realistic attempt of stabilisation before a lot of folk have some time off.

I looked through the Codex and didn't see anything there that would specify a "first" anything. Just had tags for 'Rumored', 'Reported' and 'Confirmed' along with how many I 'Confirmed' showing the date explored. I also looked in my Commander Log and while it shows numbers for level 2 and level 3 detail scans it doesn't list any "first" anything.

As far as I can see, the visited stars have had ALL their markers set back to NOT visited (Red), well on my copy of Galmap anyway..... In my case great swathes of the bubble WERE bllue...now there are only red dots... [sad]

Its a good thing we don't have a massive exploration event starting soon.

[where is it]

i saw no stars and then i saw red stars too .. i toggled them on/off and zoomed out abit and then as i started to slowly zoom back in i started seeing the blue stars. i was able to see all the stars i visited.
