Progression
Show some kind of progression towards exploration. I'd like to know what % of the Galaxy I've explored myself (even if the number turns out to be 1e-100, I'd love to know), what % of the Galaxy has civilization explored overall.
Show progression per Constellation, Faction space.
Exploration Tracking
I want to know which systems I've explored already.
I want to know which systems are known to civilization but not to me.
I want to know which systems have never been explored by anybody.
I'd like to see a more proper map with this information so I can plot my courses towards more strategically effective exploration plans.
Research
The reason why we sent probes to astronomical bodies is to understand more about our universe. The seek for knowledge is powerful in humans beings.
I'd like to see missions about exploring a particular type of star or planet.
I'd like to see multi-tier progression missions where an entity (Research Center or Academy) are studying or developing a particular technology, and the way I can help on their research is by exploring certain systems that may contain a particular type of asteroid for example, and I need to bring samples, or probe them.
I could have my own research objectives, one research could boost my speed 1% on all my ships, and in order to achieve this, I need to explore, probe, sample, whatever astronomical bodies around.
Achievements
Human exploration is an achievement itself. Recognition of one's endeavors is important when it comes to exploration. I'd like to see achievements like these:
First human to ever visit a system.
Explored an entire constellation.
Explored an entire system for the first time.
Explored the first of a particular star.
I don't know, achievements are usually sugar coating, but they're a nice and easy way for the game to congratulate the user and raise some endorphins while playing.
