Exploration - MUCH more phenomena

I’ll start by saying I love the new exploration, it’s certainly on the right tracks. There’s a few tweaks but all in all, it’s good.

However, I think the quantity of things to discover is pretty poor.

FDEV have created dozens of things to find, and in an MMO game like this, it’s not enough. It all gets found in a few days.

I really think they need to go the whole RockStar path (makers of GTA) and make hundreds, no THOUSANDS of things to find. There were still things being discovered in GTAV MONTHS after release, and it’s a much smaller ‘map’ than in ED.

It doesn’t all have to be hidden in far off systems either.

You scan a planet, you get ‘geysers’, there’s a few variants.

Why can’t we just get common phenomena like:

Auroras
Volcanism
Fissures
Canyons
Sinkholes
Impact craters
Earthquakes
Odd magnetic signature
Radiation sources
Hundreds more variants of ‘life’ (doesn’t even have to be modelled, just algae type stuff - the universe feels way too ‘dead’)
Way more variations of surface crystals, made of different materials
Interesting ‘light’ phenomena (diffractions, colours etc).
Amazing rock formations, arches, mountains, erosions, flat plains, ice structures etc...

There’s got to be loads more, I’m not the creative expert here, but I feel someone should be able to create more phenomena...

All these explorers (passengers) going off to see cool stuff, surely there would be a million sites to see. There’s thousands of interesting ‘natural’ sites on earth alone!!

Just Pluto alone as a dwarf planet looks like it would be fascinating to visit....

And these could be listed on the FSS scanner and codex as ‘things’ of interest etc...

I'm glad were not tripping over things for the most part. Space is big and mostly empty. I would like some more evironmental stuff like radiation and stuff.

Btw we already have canyons and impact craters.

I will concur on more variety is always great although I think the current geo sites have quite a bit already. As long as they don't increase the density too much.

There should still be a needle in a haystack feel. Just not cookie-cutter needles.

And they need to change the variety of already existing POIs.
The geological sites are awfully similar. They could use allot more random into the procedural generation.
Go wild ;)

Think big. A massive star being consumed by its neutron partner is pretty interesting isnt it? Could even add a few hundred (thousand) by hand if its more than the proc gen can take.

Check it out.
