Ayreon has always worked for me when I'm out in the black. Into The Electric Castle and Universal Migrator seem to fit.

my space exploration list contains a mix of rush, disturbed, system of a down, rolling stones, gorillaz, johhn cash, pendulum, knife party, tenacious-d, ozzy/blacksabbath, cage the elephant, foster the people,sheldon allman and duane and brando.. and yes I'm aware that that puts everything in the playlist all over the map.

Edit: also lodger and MCR.

Phillip Glass, Metamorphosis. You may recognize it as the sojourn music of the human diaspora in BSG. It got me to Sgr A* and back and help keep me sane in the process. Hope you enjoy it too

Eve Online soundtrack, there a 6 hour video of the Eve music on YT. God that music brings back some fantastic memories, end up zoning out on nostalgia and hitting planets half the time.

I don't usually have music playing in the background when I'm exploring. I listen to the sounds of the world on the system map and when I'm in supercruise.

Depends what mood I'm in. Usually I'll go for prog like Allan parsons project or Rush. But sometimes i'll stick on Whitearmor's Judgement day megamix (https://soundcloud.com/gravityboys/judgment-day-megamix) for some ambient spacey music, flying though space listening to that I just zone out.

The classics do it for me, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven. Many film soundtracks work very well.
