Exploration Newbie Question

How do we take snapshots of our ships in space? I know it should be easy, but I'll be damned if I know (and I'm afraid to ask my daughters as I might get teased).

Your F10 key will do it.
They will be located at:
C:\Users\%username%\Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

If you have the Steam version its F12 for all Steam screenshots, Then you have the option of uploading them to the cloud to save them or just keeping them on your HDD in your steam folder.

Scroll down to my explanation of how I take my screenshots. I have also mentioned the free software I use, and the technique on debug camera mode to take external shots. (the screen shots used in my expedition log use the debug camera mode).

Best bet with debug camera mode, and the safest I find is:

1. Throttle to 30km/s and exit SC. You get a 'purer' picture in 'normal' space.
2. Ctrl/Alt/Space to enter debug camera mode and take pictures with impunity, you are at zero inertia so you are safe.

Good luck Cdr. No such a thing as a noob here, we are all happy to help :)

I may be wrong, but I am thinking you mean how do you get shots of the outside of your ship. You need to use the debug camera. If you look in control options you will be able to bind it to a key. It is a camera you can fly around your ship for a limited distance. Be warned though, your ship will continue on it's merry way and you will have no control until you switch it off again.
