Ships Exploration Preferences of AspX vs Anaconda

So soon to be returning from another long exploration trip in my engineered AspX (many 1000's of discovered systems once again) and have been seeing people post about exploration ships of which is the best and such for new people or people not used to exploration.

My thing is I have never yet bought one of the Big 3 (credits isn't an issue in the slightest), though I still can't get the Corvette yet as I don't have the rank, the reason is I just can't figure out any use for the Anaconda or Cutter.

I am close to Elite in trading so don't need to do much more to get that, and I don't need the credits and so with my FDL I figure I don't need the Cutter for anything other than an overpriced mining ship which my Python does fine at.

So that leaves the Anaconda and the only thing I can think of using it for in my PvE is exploration (I have my FDL for combat already).

And yes, I really do want to get a big 3 ship to try them out, but I don't want to go through the time to engineer out yet another ship (already had to do that on my current fleet) and end up having it sit collecting dust (which I have ships already doing fully engineered, never being used).

So doing a exploration build and getting the FSD up to the low 70's % wise I am curious how people like that sort of build that have used it to explore (say Beagle Point, etc). With the lower thrusters you'd have to use and power plant and distributor, etc, have people found it still to be fun to fly with long distances? I know people have complained about the cockpit, but is that really that bothersome at all?

Anything else especially with people that have explored using both engineered AspX and Anaconda's? I'm really trying my hardest to justify buying one, but as I said, I don't want to go through the time to get one engineered up never to use it...

I've explored a lot in both Asp E and Annie pre engineering buffs. Got a 37ly ranged Annie to BP and back. Why do I like Annie's: Great range great internals visually impressive and they just have that 'serious explorer feel' about them. Plus when you return in one you can use it as a very good ranged trader. I don't use mine for PVE combat. Too big and un-manouverable with a hefty insurance bill if you fudge it.
AspE is also a great ship and handles very differently from the Annie. However range wise they are limited in comparison.

All depends on what you want. i love both but if I were to choose between the two a dedicated exploring boat it would be the Annie.

Ok great to hear, so I think I'll just grab one then and use it for the further destinations (Like Beagle Point) or for long range passenger missions then...

I suggest to do some testflights in the Anaconda. Although she has the superior jumprange, her supercruise agility is much worse than the ASP.
One argument in favour of the Annie is the capability to jump farther even lightly armed and with a 5D fighter bay.

Yes mine would be a jumper ship and not really a planet exploration ship then if Supercruise isn't worth it at all. I'll just try and get the most jump range I can then from it, though that means having crappy thrusters...

I've flown them both in a number of circumstances. Asp is my choice for exploration by far. My Annie is a CG bulk transport.

Asp has better viewing canopy, much better handling in supercruise, better handling in normal flight, cheaper rebuy if you screw up/Suicide Express, faster getaway if hostiles are encountered, and plenty of internals besides.

The only thing the Annie really does better is jump range, and that's only if you really strip it down. I suppose the fighter bay can provide amusement. Its the super slow handling that I found frustrating. That and the tiny viewing canopy kills it for exploration for me. At the moment, I'm using an Explorca!

Well I love my AspX and since it's taken me all over the galaxy on long range trips, maybe I'll just get one and use it for only a Bubble to Colonia express instead and keep my AspX there for easier access to the bubble and have the Conda just as an over priced shuttle service then...

The view and the handling of the Asp E are superior to Annie agree.

I have an Asp X with a range of 50ly stripped down for exploration. I have the funds for an Anaconda, but is it really worth the expense? What's the max range I could get out of a G5 modded FSD in an Anaconda?
