So soon to be returning from another long exploration trip in my engineered AspX (many 1000's of discovered systems once again) and have been seeing people post about exploration ships of which is the best and such for new people or people not used to exploration.
My thing is I have never yet bought one of the Big 3 (credits isn't an issue in the slightest), though I still can't get the Corvette yet as I don't have the rank, the reason is I just can't figure out any use for the Anaconda or Cutter.
I am close to Elite in trading so don't need to do much more to get that, and I don't need the credits and so with my FDL I figure I don't need the Cutter for anything other than an overpriced mining ship which my Python does fine at.
So that leaves the Anaconda and the only thing I can think of using it for in my PvE is exploration (I have my FDL for combat already).
And yes, I really do want to get a big 3 ship to try them out, but I don't want to go through the time to engineer out yet another ship (already had to do that on my current fleet) and end up having it sit collecting dust (which I have ships already doing fully engineered, never being used).
So doing a exploration build and getting the FSD up to the low 70's % wise I am curious how people like that sort of build that have used it to explore (say Beagle Point, etc). With the lower thrusters you'd have to use and power plant and distributor, etc, have people found it still to be fun to fly with long distances? I know people have complained about the cockpit, but is that really that bothersome at all?
Anything else especially with people that have explored using both engineered AspX and Anaconda's? I'm really trying my hardest to justify buying one, but as I said, I don't want to go through the time to get one engineered up never to use it...
