I tried posting this in the dangerous discussion and got no answers. I'm posting it here here as it disappeared off the front page and this place is usually more helpful/friendly.

Is it possible to reach NGC 7822 Nebula.

I'm wondering if anyone has been able to jump to it? Everywhere I go I see this sequence of bright stars but I can't make a route to it. I only have a jump range of 32LY but before I try to refit and get a longer range I'd like to know if its even possible or is it always just out of reach?

I dont know specifically about that nebula, but some of them have some fairly interesting jump routes that the computer wont calculate. just go around it, every star.. and see if there is one inside in range.

Thanks. I've had another look and it may be easier coming from the outer rim. Will have another go when I get out that far. Would still be good to know if anyone has been there.

It's pretty easy to reach, I did it myself in a Cobra with only 20-22 Ly jump range.

The trick is to plot a course below it, and once you get there then head straight up.

Is a nice exploration target by the way, with plenty of black holes and big stars. Oh, and do go watch S171 43. It's a stunning piece of celestial mechanics.

Is that the one with a long line of bright stars in it, some with the name S171 * ?
I don't think you can reach it in a Cobra (I tried, on the way back from somewhere).
You need a LOOOOOONG jump range.
Maybe an Asp? If not, maybe a Hauler?
