Exploration question

When one goes off exploring is there any chance of finding an unexplored system and actually finding old new disused stations of lost civilizations?

We don't know. No-one has so far, so if there is a chance it must be very small. ;)

There are a number of areas (e.g. Regor sector) which require permits. Speculation is that FD will use them for alien homeworlds.

I really doubt stuff like that is in the game right now. However, there are entire sectors that are permit locked, with FD going on record that these are reserved for future content - so things like that may be on their way.

So all we are going to find are planets n stuff so far. So when out exploring do you have to quit game in space if there are no stations or platforms

Yup, right now it's about finding earth, ammonia, water worlds and such.. as well as neutron stars, black holes, visiting nebulae etc. As for your question, yes, you log off in space and when you log back in, you're where you left off. It works fine, otherwise exploration trips that last for months (some people go for over 6 months) wouldn't be viable :)

This is why a fuel scoop is a mandatory piece of equipment for explorers - can't go very far if you can't refuel - and auto field maintenance units are recommended, since there are no repair shops out in the black :)
