Exploration & random npcs/USS

I would think that over 100 LY from the closest populated system you'd be extremely unlikely to just randomly find crashed ships & people (npcs) exploring or trying to interdict you. I mean, unless i'm wrong and space is supposed to be this busy even so far away from any stations/populated system, that feels a little wierd...

There are thousands over thousands of random uninhabited systems in a bubble of 100 LY+ around populated space. It's strange to randomly find people just hanging around there or exploring the exact same random system at the exact same time you happen to be there. I've even dropped at a planet ring about 90 LY from populated space and all of a sudden, an escorted type 9 and some three other totally random ships jumped in (at the exact same completely random place i had dropped at in the ring, without having anybody in my contacts before i did so).

Anybody with similar experiences?

No matter where you go or how far you think you are from other's - Expect to see other ships !!!
If you do not you are going down a road with a dead-end (restart)
I read about 'wanta be' Explorer's taking off their shields and weapons thinking no one is out there.
That may work for a day or two - maybe even a week or two however if you take that risk you will find the dead end I am speaking of.
Fly Safe and Expect to see other's (players and/or NPCs)

I don't think you get my point.

In my opinion at least that is just not realistic. It's like if today you went to the middle of siberia, in the middle of the forest, on a completely random spot, far away from any civilized town or anything you can find on a map and expect/find somebody just hanging around there on the exact same completely random spot you picked.

I went ready for encounters, with weapons and shields and all, but its starting to feel immersion breaking really...

Now i'm more than 200 LY from civilization and there's still the random pirate every now and then to interdict me or scan me for goods in random planet rings. Why would a pirate just hang around 200 LY from civilization looking for cargo to steal lol

When you get to 500LY out, you will no longer see NPC's or USS's

Just for reference, I am over 7,000 light years from home, and have run into 2 human players in the past 24 hours.

You're talking about a game with energy shields and FTL travel. Just saying.

Thats an invalid point, the energy shields and FTL travel are part of the setting we agreed to be immersed in. Would it make sense if suddenly singing elephants would block the Starport entrance?

This is what I am talking about.
IF you are there why can't anyone else be there.
I would expect encounters anywhere I go in the game as I am not the only one playing.
There are player's and NPC's - expect to see others anywhere you go. (open play, solo or group)

I know that.. but there are 400 billion stars out there and not even perhaps 1 million players? what are the odds? Also, how many of these are actually exploring and not just hanging in civilized space, doing wars, etc.?
