Hi, going through the changelog, I have a few questions for you beta testers:
1· Power specific ship modules added
Are there any you've seen that could benefit explorers?
2· Power specific goods and actions added
Anything useul for explorers?
3· Fuel transfer drones added
Anyone used these yet? Anything interesting to report?
4· More mission variants added
Any good exploration missions you've seen?
5· Add select nav target functionality to system map
Does this work well?
6· Allow any general purpose slot on any ship to contain a fuel tank module
Can you put in more than one fuel tank? Has the fuel store disappeared completely or is it still there with the option to put in more? Does "general purpose" here mean "internal compartment?" Can you put any size fuel tanks into them or limited to the max of the fuel store?
7· Fix ring scaling on stars in system map
Does this work?
8· Galaxy map camera now caches its current position for retrieval on returning to the galaxy map
Does this work?
9· Fix planet popping on approach
Does this work? Do they really just slowly come into view? How is the transition from "star" to "planet"?
10· The minimum value of the lighting curves for stars has been altered so that it scales from a universal base value with star temperature
What does this mean? Does it mean that when you supercruise really far from a star to the point it becomes just a "star" it looks different depending on how bright the star? e.g. does a class O hypergiant from 1,000,000ls still look the same as a brown dwarf from 10,000ls (apart from colour)? Or is it something else?
11· Improvements to engine effects overhaul
What's this like?
12· If stellar surface tessellation fails then make sure we try again on the next frame
Do the texture LODs still suck i.e. if you are "orbiting" a planet, do the newly exposed sides still have this weird texture for a few seconds?
13 Audio:
· PowerPlay interface and PowerPlay Galaxy-map audio added.
· Supercruise engines are improved and have subtle 'judder' when overshooting a planet.
· Improved mix on hyperspace tunnel whispers and flybys.
· Improved growl and orientation noises on the Asp, improved boost sound.
· Fixed some silly clicks on fuelscoop.
