[EXPLORATION] Screen Shots

I have been inspired to share some of what I'm discovering in the depths of the galaxy. Disclaimer: I don't claim to have discovered anything new, I just want to share with others some of the beauty of what is out there. Thanks to Cmdr Pete and the Flickr group he set up for helping me figure out how to take and share some good screen shots, as well as the rest of the community for chipping in :)

Most of today's images are from the Ardiaei System which is not beyond the borders of humanity. If you wish to explore it yourself then spoiler alert on the images below! Hopefully they have uploaded okay and I have the resolution right so you can see them.

Firstly: Here is an overview of the planet facts most of these images are taken from.

I wanted some images of the asteroids from a close perspective.

Here's another.

Aradiaei Sys Ardiaei 3 Rings Single Asteroid.jpg

I loved this one with the red nebula behind it. I'm no astronomer so I am not sure how to figure out the name of the nebula.

I call this "A view from the mist."

Aradiaei Sys Ardiaei 3 White Ships of Ardiaei.jpg

This one I liked for its sweeping view of the horizon.

Ardiaei Sys Aradiaei 3 Rings A room with a view.jpg

This one I call "The White Ships."

Ardiaei Sys Rings of Ardiaei 3 With Nebula.jpg

This one I call "Rings of Light."

And here is an image of Ardiaei 3 from a strange angle

I call this "3rd Rock from the sun." It's the third planet in the system COL 285 Sec EJ-N B21-8

Edit - adding in some image taking tips I learned from the Flickr group I am in.

1. Find an image you want to take a screen shot of
2. If you want, go to solo to allow you to take a high res image
3. Drop out of Super Cruise
4. Manouver your vessel so you can see the image angle from the view port with the biggest view
5. Press SHIFT - ALT - G to blank out the GUI
6. Press ALT F10 if you're in solo mode and get the high res shot
7. Turn your BMP image into a JPG - this can be done online or through paint or online with something like Zamzar
8. Why not join a group such as The First Great Expedition or the group started here on Flckr https://www.flickr.com/groups/elite_dangerous/ and post your image there as well :)

Really nice shots. Really enjoy the exploration side of this game because even though others may have been to a system already, each time I visit one for the first time can't help but to wonder "I wonder how many others have been here before". Exploration really showcases the beauty and the depth of this game.

Agreed Bob :)

Great images, rep dished out :)

The Nebula is Barnards Loop :)

Thanks Nutter. I wondered if it was, but I'm astronomically inept :) Appreciate the info!

Nice pics..

Heres one I quite like which I grabbed recently

Love the starkness of that, thanks for sharing!

@OP, I was literally just there, I also flew through those rings!
Also, I'm pretty sure that red nebula you see there, are Orion Nebula (in the middle) and Barnard's Loop behind it (the big one)

These are some screenshots I took the other day, don't remember what system sadly..

Red Corvus - I hope to see more pics from you. Two big tips I learned were using SHIFT-ALT-G to get rid of the GUI and then dropping out of Super Cruise and focussing the desired image through the largest window I have.
