Exploration - set completion bonus (sorta)

On a long, looping trip around the galaxy at the moment, lotsa time for random thoughts - especially about the number of un-scanned ice-balls (and even the odd earth-like when someone has just done a honk and run)

Was wondering if some sort of system completion bonus would be worth it - ok, actually two of them:

1. Clean Sweep - Get the Discovered-by tag on every object in a system - 2x bonus for system value, which would necessarily include the second bonus,

2. Final Piece - Get the final Discovered-by tag in a system - 10,000 cr flat rate

Numbers up to debate, but some sort of incentive to actually scan a whole system rather than just the shiny objects, or a bit of a bonus to people who come across a half-scanned system?

(edit: was also throwing around the idea of a multiplier based on distance from main star... dunno how that would work with some systems though)

this would make a NICE exploration mission...
Bulletin Board, someone asks for a system scan of 1 to 3 sectors.. WAY the hell out there... asking you to scan the sun, maybe a few planets.. or whatever...
come back and cash it in.

This has been suggested before. Here's my issue, though it's not a very solid one:

1) The ADS shouldn't be infinite. It should be large, but not infinite. Also, data worth should scale with distance from main star. Things 500,000ls from the drop in point should be worth many millions.

2) Assuming 1) is in effect, how would you know you scanned the entire system? You wouldn't ever realistically be sure, and you can never really receive a completion bonus without being sure.

That is why the ADS range is infinite.
And I do agree that an object 200,000 LS away from the main star should be worth than just a few thousand credits. It takes 20 minutes of SC flight to reach it, so the reward needs to reflect the time invested.

It shouldn't be. You shouldn't ever be sure. Such is the nature of discovery.

You nailed it. Only thing is to define the border where ADS range ends.
Even more I do not understand why belts aren't paid. They can be big resources for minerals and metals worth
multi billion of credits but arent paid for scanning at all.

Hoping for future use by FD.

Miklos
